Yes I believe you can. Good luck with that by the way.

Do not get caught shooting a dear with a rimfire. I usually keep a 22 magnum pistol around for varmints and boredom.

Just do yourself a big favor, and leave the 17 at home, also make sure you .45 isn't loaded with FMJ's. You can legally take big game with a pistol, and you can't legally use FMJ's.
It'll save you some ball bustin from a fish and game warden.

PM me if you need a D5 buddy

I wouldn't worry about it at all. I know lots of people that carry .22s while hunting deer. As long as you have a center fire and you tell them the .17 is for squirrels or something you should be fine. Why would he think you would use that .17 when you have a .308?

If you're deer hunting why would you shoot anything else around there to scare them away?

A .22 isn't really that loud and deer aren't really that scared of gun shots. I have shot plenty of bucks and had the doe with them hang out after the shot. I have watched deer that don't move or even pay attention to shots a mile or two away. I know plenty of people that will get bored and blast a squirrel with a .308 or a .30-06 and always get a deer or two.

That being said I usually don't take anything but the rifle I am hunting with and maybe a pistol and I don't shoot unless it is at a deer.
