First ever AR-build. I have a RRA A3 flat-top upper and looking for a A2 detachable handle/sight. What's the difference between,
1. flat top weaver rifle carry handle w/ A2 rear sight
2. flat top "QD" carry handle w/ A2 rear sight
3. flat top detachable carry handle w/ A2 rear sight

Thanks,
Tim

Tim,

I'm not sure what your #1 option describes ("flat top weaver rifle carry handle w/ A2 rear sight") other than it's an A2 rear sight.

I believe everyone with flattop ARs should have at least one matching standard detachable carry handle, ideally every rifle should have one (or ARMS#40 backup iron sights).

If you have an RRA flattop upper you should get an RRA carry handle: not necessarily a great idea to mix & match carry handles from different vendors due to differences in front sight base height and corresponding necessary differences in rear sight height. Not sure if RRA uses "F"-marked/height front sight bases or not.

Bill, thanks for the advice.
I saw them on ebay (search under "a2 sight") for various description and price.

Does Bushmaster use "F" marked front sight bases?

Does Bushmaster use "F" marked front sight bases?
No. Use a Bushmaster carry handle.

Don't buy from EBay unless you know what you are getting exactly.

Many of these are cheap import (Chinese) handles - pot metal, poor sight calibration etc.

Even if a dude thinks his handle was a "Colt" or a "Bushmater" or other vendor, it may have gotten mixed around with others.

First you need to read the Big Bad BUIS FAQ (http://ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=206233) at ar15.com ;)

I've got a detachable carry handle, and rarely use it except for testing different configurations.

I'd recommend a good sturdy BUIS for more flexibility, especially if you're planning on putting any optics on the rifle. If you'll ever be using a traditional scope, you'll want a low BUIS to fit under the scope.

If you purchase good quality BUIS the detachable handle is really unnecessary unless you plan on never using a sling.
