i'm a member of desert marksman. any other DM members want to meet up for a shoot?

conversely, if someone not a member wants to try some high desert shooting out to 900 yards, i can meet up too and get you in for free. you must have a car capable of traveling over rocky dirt road though.

this is for this week and next week (next 14 days)
pm me if interested.

I'd take you up on the very generous offer.. but my lowered car just won't survive on the rocky dirt roads :(

I'd like to try it out too but my IS300 can't handle rocky roads. :(

I would like to but i don't really have a rifle capable of those ranges yet. I am sure my .223 Savage 10fp could make it out to 600-700 yards but I wish I had the .50.

what we need is someone with a 4x or a jeep. i would love to go, but my cr-v would rattle like hell. anyone willing to drive?

From my understanding the road is not that bad. Note I have never been there, but I have spoke with people that have gone there and I've heard that little front wheel drive cars make it up just fine. I'm willing to drive up there with my Camry. I'm also a looser without a truck.

My rig could handle it easily but I have no rifle to shoot those distances... Where exactly is this located? What day of the week are some of you trying to go?

I used to be a member there a couple of years ago and the road wasn't that bad, I even took my old Escort back in there once when my SUV was in the shop.

Of course a lot could have changed in two or three years.

I've seen guys plink 800yds with their AR15's. Can be done.

Maybe if the target at 800 yards was a barn I could hit it :p. I could fit 2 other people in my rig with all their equipment. What day you guys trying to go?

well just because the end of the range is 950 yards doesn't mean you gotta try to shoot that far :) I can't hit crap beyond 300, although I will try gamely. heck, i can barely do minute of man at 300 on a good day.

the road isn't all that bad. it's rocky and rutty, but as long as you dont go over 15mph you will be fine. go over 15mph and your head might whack the roof a few times. those of you who have experience with trucks probably know that people who drive trucks often get into more trouble than those that dont, because they get overconfident and stuck.

i drive a little hyundai, and i made the drive several times already. unfortunately, the car's having a bit of trouble and id rather it not get stuck in the forest until i get it looked at more closely.

anyway, for anyone who is interested: call me or pm me.

available dates:
T, W, TH, FRI all next week
available times: any (by the way the range does not close ever, so if youre up for it we can even camp out for the night. too bad tracer is just way too much of a bad idea in CA.. otherwise it could be real fun to do night shooting. it's also too bad that night vision scopes are banned...)

Night vision scopes are perfectly legal as long as they don't use active IR.

Is this still going on? I have a 4x4 truck and have room for 4 if anyone wants to meet up.

As long as my new rings and my bore sight show up by Friday, I am game.

First off, the range is 600 yards and you have to get permission to shoot at the 1000 yard pad. Second, tracers are a FELONY, HELLO!!! Do not pass go, go directly to JAIL! The people that live out that way would love to see DM closed, don't give them a reason.

With that said, the road in isn't that bad as I've driven my Honda out there, just go slow and you'll make it.

P.S. By FELONY, that means EACH tracer that you have whether it's loaded or not. Don't screw yourself, others you're with and the place you're shooting at.

Angeles anyone?

Angeles is fine with me but I am waiting on rings and a bore sight for my m1a so as long as they show by friday I should have enough time to get it pre-zeroed.

Penal Code 12301 & 12303 say that it is illegal, but not that it is a felony, Could you perhaps show where you came into this information. Discussing legalities like this is bad unless you can back it up with proper documentation.

Depends on what part of the destructive device laws you read, either way your guilty. Wanna bet your future of owning firearms on a tracer or incendiary round?

Not to mention the fact that you're not in possession of a destructive device permit. If you wanna play with them don't do it in Kali or even keep them here, find a friend or family member in a state that allows them. Then you'll have a reason to go and visit them.

Actually, I am in possession of reg'ed DD's, some class II's and Class III's. All legally reg'ed as well. Im just curious where you came up with the felony reference. "Law doesnt depend", its either a misdemeanor or a felony.
