I read an article from the Boston Globe that said that Giuliani answered his cell phone right in the middle of his speech with the NRA.

For a presidential candidate whose messy personal life has been an issue, former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani made it official yesterday: Wife trumps gun lobby.

Giuliani was in the middle of an important speech to the National Rifle Association when his cellphone rang.

I have to ask how Giuliani expects gun owners to take him seriously when he can't even turn off his frickin cell phone to give a speech. Of course, the truth is that he's a joke on 2nd Amendment Issues. I just find his behavior rude and not cute, which his handlers tried to play it off as.

Apparently it isn't the first time it's happened during one of Giuliani's campaign speeches, so it looks like part of an act to me.

Something he stole from Bill Clinton BTW. IIRC Clinton was keynote speaker at an event when his phone rang. He joked about it being Hillary, but didn't bother to answer the call.

The real "WTF" here is his wife didn't back him up on that. She should have said, "yeah, put me on!" and then she should have said, "hey I'm from New York, I don't know anything about guns, is there anyone here who can get me started?" And then had a range-day photo-op of her learning to use a defensive handgun, for example.

That's what a politician's wife should have done.

It gets better - see this from Free Republic: (http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1900504/posts)

"Right before Giuliani took his "impromptu" call during the NRA speech, he was discussing the second amendment. However, when discussing the second amendment's language, he mistakenly began to paraphrase the fourth amendment instead! Then he answered the phone and changed the subject."

Rudy's position on guns disqualified him right from jump street as far as my GOP vote goes, but when I found out his lawfirm is Chief US Counsel for Madrid-based CINTA Corporation I began to percieve him as a real threat to the future of the country. The US Government denies the whole scheme but insiders have known for years that CINTA was awarded the $7 Billion contract to build the Trans-Texas NAFTA "Superhighway" that will streamline the conveyance of goods and services from Mexico to Canada via a modern freeway as wide as a football field right through the heartland of this Nation. It seems like a huge task to obtain the consent of middle Americans to allow this project, with all the eminent domain issues that would ensue, but having Rudy for President sure would help.

Did the wife really call or is it more likely...

1) Schmo didn't study up before speech.
2) Schmo starts quoting 4th amendment instead of 2nd.
3) Crowd gets antsy and starts murmuring.
4) Alert staffer makes the "wife" call.
5) “Hey, Rudy, you're blowing it. Change the subject!”
6) Schmo laughs like it's the wife instead of his backup
7) Schmo lies and says it was the wife.
8) Schmo then changes subject.

Get the phone records. This guy is a disaster.

Are you daring to accuse one of our finest elected public servants of less than total honesty? Just remember: All politicians are lying all the time. If their lips aren't moving, they are planning the next lie.

The only thing more impressive than taking a call from the President is refusing to take a call from the President.

What kind of vision can this guy have for our country if he doesn't even have the vision to come up with a cool personalized ring tone? :p

AKA: "I know you guys hate me and I am a tool for Schumer and The Brady people, but can you just leave me alone so people will think we are friends.? Oh wait... hold on, 'hello'..."
