Just picked this up the other day. Saw another member here that had one with the 5" barrel and unfluted cylinder, and knew I just had to have one.

That is just about a perfect combination.....I would be buying one presently except I just picked up a 586 no dash....sated the L-frameitis (minor case) that I had.

F**kit, I gotta get one too. And Ahrends grooveless grips!

Been holding off too long. Even though I have a 6" older (late 80's) 686-2 that damned unfluted cylinder has my name on it.

Now if they'd just do a straight 3.5" 627 8-shot N-frame with unfluted cylinder and standard full underlug (i.e., no gawdawful Performance Center weird-assed slanted bbl underlug!) I'd be eternally happy.

I fail to understand why the 627s have to come outta the Performance Center; they should be part of the standard line.

In a perfect world there should also be a 527 (blued!) as well....

I love it. Now if they would offer it bead blasted with a set of Jerry Miculek grips I would be going bat sh-t crazy right now

I just got one too. Strange - it needed to be cleaned:eek: Someone had fired it. I bought online and used a well known local FFL. Not a big deal I suppose. Can't wait to get to the range.

S&W test fires all of there guns at the factory, just like every other manufacturer. I've had some come absolutely filthy.

Bead-blasted S/S is great - glad to find someone else who enjoys 'crusty' guns!

 There were two shells in the case but you'd think they would clean them before shipping. In any case it's a relief to know. Thanks for the info.

I had a 6" version from 1984 which I sold a few years ago. Great shooting gun.

Regarding unfluted cylinder, is it factory or custom made?
