Hey guys,

I'm trying to figure out the costs involved with a homebuild project.

Does anyone know where to get PSL parts?

I've got something I'd like to try.

Thanks.

Almost everything can be found at either GunBroker.com or http://www.k-var.com/shop/

The receiver is the one part I don't need.

What exactly is the difference between a psl reciever and an nds3 for a romy g build?

longer side indentions, it has a bulged front trunion like an RPK or a yugo and it has plates on the back to extend the receiver.

You will probably be stuck buying another receiver in order to get the trunions since most of the kits for sale right now have had the trunions removed. I've been looking at this one http://www.tickbitesupply.com/partskit.html but think I'll go buy some more C&Rs instead, the dissapearance or 7.62x54R has cooled my desire for a PSL for now.

Does anyone know if a PSL bolt will work with a Rommy or yugo trunion?

I wouldn't even try that.

Its not my first choice, but I've heard a rumor that PSL trunion=RPK trunion= yugo trunion and theorys have been advanced that the only difference between a yugo and a rommy G is the strengthening rib.... so.... maby?

anyone know for certain?

anyone know for certain? The outside width measurement of the PSL (1.211") and Romanian RPK (1.221") lower portion of front trunion are close. The upper portion of the front trunion for the PSL (1.458") and the RPK (1.461") are even closer.
The Romy G has a flat sided front trunion with a width measurement of 1.261".
The PSL barrel as it fits into the front trunion is 0.862" dia., the RPK is 0.899" dia., and the Romy G is 0.901" dia.

I'm having zero luck tracking down a front trunion... Right now it looks like (if there is no substitute) I'm going to be stuck buying a receiver to cut up for the trunions so that I can stick them in my homeade receiver :(

Tweak.. I'm building a PISTOL out of it. I can't do that with a comercially produced rifle receiver.

There really is a meathod to my maddness.

Actually the project has a name already.

Its "The GRONK"

which stands for Ground Resonating Offensive Noise Kreator

I suspect the recoil won't be as bad as you'd think... but you could probably light a bonfire from ten feet away ;)

Yep, might as well.
The cat's out of the bag

it should be a rather compact package. and i won't mind only having 10 rounds in a BB fixed mag.

Once again, Great Idea. It may very well be the first 7.62x54r semi auto pistol, and it will come out of california, Thats so cool. Like I have said before, gun culture will never die out because there will always be people like you that will always try something new, unique, and original.

Added measurements to my post #12 comparing the PSL, RPK, and Romy G front trunion.
Thanks,

Thanks builder, the RPK sounds prety close.. and if I fabricated a new barrel using a nagant 91/30 or a blank, I might be able to use a Rommy G..

how were the internal measurements? Are the lugs the same?

if you stick a PSL bolt into a rommy G trunion will it lock up ok?

Dang I need to buy a good set of calipres...

are you a member of AK files? I would try asking on there too.

A 91/30 and PSL are 7.62x54R. A Romy G (7.62x39) bolt would be a mismatch to the 91/30 barrel (7.62x54R) even if the bolt could lock up on a trunion.

Just for fun, I'll check. I do know that a Romy G bolt will lock up nicely on a Rom RPK trunion (both 7.62x39).

The report is just in from SAL... The PSL bolt locks up perfectly with a rommy G trunion.. Lugs etc are the same size....

Looks like this is a go!!!
