OK folks...

AB821 (Bradyite lead ammo ban under guise of condor protection) HAS BEEN ON GOVERNOR SCHWARZENEGGER'S DESK SINCE FRIDAY. This means "it's live/it's hot".

For more info and talking points on AB821 please see: http://www.calnra.com/legs.shtml?year=2007&summary=ab821

Let's move this up in the queue!

For the moment, let's temporarily redirect our energies we were expending for AB1471 (microstamping) AND FOCUS ON URGING THE GOVERNOR TO VETO AB821 (condor/lead ammo ban) as we are not quite sure if microstamping bill is actually on the Governor's desk yet (i.e, not even in a position to be signed).

WRITING AND FAXING AND EMAILING ALSO ALWAYS HELP, but in the meantime, LET'S BURN UP THE PHONE LINES.

AT THIS POINT, YOU WILL ACTUALLY HAVE TO SPEAK TO A LIVE REPRESENTATIVE SINCE AB821 IS NOT A 'TOP-5' VOICEMAIL MENU ITEM.

DON'T BE SHY, RESPECTFULLY ASK FOR THE GOVERNOR TO VETO AB821.

IF MORE DETAILS ARE REQUIRED, THE FAST TALKING POINTS ON THE CAL NRA WEBSITE ARE VERY HELPFUL. A quick review may be warranted before calling to refamiliarize yourself with AB821 proposed actions.

Please be polite, clear and respectful.

It'll be nice if AB1471 microstamping stays in the Top 4 or 5 in the phone queue ALONG WITH AB821 LEAD AMMO BAN.

If we can get AB1471 and AB821 as the Top 2 that's even better.

PLEASE REQUEST A VETO FOR AB821 so the staffer can accurately record your opinion.

Remember, in California, the Governor must actively veto legislation sent to him within 30 days to prevent it from becoming law. If he ignores the bill, it becomes law by default at the end of that period.

For main phone contact, courtesy of Gene Hoffman:

Call 1-916-445-2841

Press '1' for English

Press '2' for Assembly Bills

Press '0' for a Human

Tell them you request the Governor VETO AB 821 - lead ammunition ban.

They'll say something along the lines of "I'll make a note of that and pass it on - have a good day."

That's all you have to do. The more you do that, the more likely it is that this will be added to the automated phone tree.

Here's the variety of ways to contact the governor:

Governor's email-via-web is at: http://www.govmail.ca.gov

You can and should also 'one-click' email via Cal NRA webpage above.

I fear that may not be because of us!

It IS because of us, otherwise it would have been over already. Last year without us would have been a different this year.

Thats a lot of driving going from different address's to mail out opposition. I'm just going to stay here and save the gas.

Back to the phones.

I've emailed and phoned in concerning both bills. The lady who took my call said they've been receiving a lot of calls concerning both bills.

Let's all send letters too!

I will be sending snail mail on this and microstamping tomorrow. Maybe Arnolds little helpers will bring in a big pile of letters when he's sitting there with the bill in front of him :)

OK I just wrote up a fax and sent it to all of the offices listed in the first post. Only the Fresno office never answered. I then put the fax sheet into a letter and will snail mail it today. Did the same for AB 1471. Plus I placed a number of calls to the hot line telling our dear Gov. to VETO these bills over the last few days.

Phones are getting busy!

Anyone getting nervous about this bill and ab1471 yet. If it wasn't for that "becomes law by default unless vetoed by the governor" thing I would be in the no-new is good news camp. I figure if he's going to sign or veto these bills it will probably be late friday night... Doing it on sunday the 30th would set him up for monday morning news.

drc

btw already called and emailed my opposition on both bills

The Governator has until October 14 to sign or veto or otherwise they become law.

Sure would like to know what his staff is telling him.
Would like to know the actual tally's of for and against cllas & faxes.

He spoke at the UN so he needs a day to unwind after getting back here. Maybe a nap or 2 and a catchup with the family so I'm thinking a Thursday VETO.

Just called the Sacto office and got through after a minute on hold. They pleasantly took down my opposition, first name, and city.

If you haven't called, please do so. It's easy.

My local media has been featuring Nava and many letters to the editor with a bunch of BS, on the Condor front. Please keep up the emails and calls to SAC. They must be making an impact, or the antis would not be pounding the drum. Sent another email this morning.
