Finally got to test out my first batch of reloads. I made 3 batches, each with successive greater powder loads to see which worked best in my gun.
Ruger P95DC (9mm)
Batch 1
Bullet: Hornady FMJ RN 124gr
Powder: Ramshot True-Blue 5.4gr (starting load)
Primer: CCI 500
OAL: 1.145
Batch 2 & 3 were all same specs, except for powder.
Batch 2 had 5.6gr
Batch 3 had 5.9gr
I can say that when I first shot the 5.4gr loads, the gun seemed very snappy and had a nice quick kick to it. When I shot from batches 2 & 3, I didn't notice much of a difference. All 3 seemed to be just as accurate as eachother. I didn't notice an increase in the kick of the gun. Without a chronograph, there wasn't much noticed at all between all 3 batches from a firing perspective. As a spectator though, I did notice that the larger loads had more smoke expelled than the 1st load of 5.4gr. Does this mean that energy was wasted with the higher loads with all that smoke being noticed?
With that said, I'm going to continue to reload with the lower load of 5.4gr to increase the amount of cartdiges I can reload. I recovered about 85% of my brass, as some of them fell in front of the firing line.
On a good note, I was able to rent a Sig Sauer P200 (45acp) and I think I fell in love with it. Very accurate gun!! I first tried a Glock 21 and it was too bulky in my hand. I think I know which gun I'll be purchasing soon (Sig P200)
