They must be counting votes out of their Chicago office - you vote early and vote often.

How about a link to the POLL?It's on that page, "Take Survey"

685/237, 74% yes at 1437.

(Maybe I shouldn't say this, but they're not checking for prior votes - I just voted 4 times to see.)

LOL, that was way too easy. I got 10 votes in.

Seriously though, how many ways do you have to tell weak kneed, sheep like, socialist nimrods that utopia is a fantasy and this is not about representation or protection. It's all about rule and control.

You say that now but just imagine if it would help us win over the antis.

now do you change your tune ?

The antis dont have obstacles like the one you have described why should we?

On the contrary - it's very American. Were it not for stuffed ballot boxes the presidential landscape of the last 130 years would look much different.

Yeah, but wait until they start checking on the URL's of the voters and find that there WAS ballotbox stuffing going on. How do you think that will affect the anti's ("The gun nuts are so scared of the truth that they'll lie about guns....") if that sort of thing is discovered? Especially since this is the NEWS MEDIA we're talking about here. You know, the gun hating people who love to find dirt on people and who will fabricate stories about what they can't find or prove if it'll sell their media.

No, I wouldn't change my tune. By your reasoning, hacking into voting machines to alter the outcome of an election is okay if it gives you a result that you find beneficial. That sounds very un-democratic and un-American to me.

Unscientific polls rather more so, in my view, due to their unfortunate verisimilitude. Such polls are trolling for desirable results. Without controls, I say anything goes.

Whats really important about that poll was the article people.

WASHINGTON -- The District of Columbia on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a lower court ruling that struck down the city's 30-year-old ban on private handgun ownership.

I'll post the whole thing on a new thread.

I agree here. If one reads the article, the poll is asking if you agree with the anti-gun crowd to overturn the lower court ruleing.

So voting YES, says you agree that the lower court was wrong and the DC gun ban should remain in force!

The District of Columbia on Tuesday asked the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a lower court ruling that struck down the city's 30-year-old ban on private handgun ownership.

Then the poll asks:

Yes, I agree that the poll on face value is asking should the handgun be overturned, but my point is that it has already been done! So why ask "should it be" when it is a done deal.

Now what remains to be decided is if the lower court's ruling overturning the ban is itself overturned by the SC. That is what the article is talking about. I just believe that is also what the poll takers were trying to ask and fail miserable at it!

I think that because the ban is still in effect that they are asking straight.

"Should D.C.'s handgun ban be overturned?"

carsonwales
09-05-2007, 2:50 PM
LOL...

Can you see the irony in arguing what the question of the poll says vs what the question of the poll means...

"Yes it may say in plain English that it is asking whether or NOT the DC gun ban should be overturned, but perhaps thats not what they meant."

Gives me giggles...
