I am waiting for my stock to get here but as soon as it does I will need some work done to my M14. Mainly I want to get the barrel cut down to 18".

Here she is.

When she is done I she will look similar to this.

Agreed. I would suggest that you resist the urge to cut down your 22" barrel and do one of two things. May I suggest that you have your barrel removed, if it is a GI barrel and it is not shot out you could easily sell it for a couple of hundred dollars and purcase a new 18.5" barrel from LRB Arms for about $269. Or I would recommend that you keep your standard M1A and purchqse another rifle built in the Bush configuration.

If it's any help, I have shortened and threaded some M14 barrels to good effect.
There is a gunsmith in Dallas that always sends them to me.

I just don't have the proper wrench heads to remove them, but that's a problem that could probably be remedied with enough coaxing...

Chrome lined barrels, too?

I cut or crown an average of 5 chrome lined barrels a week, EVERY week.
Never EVER had a problem associated with chrome lining.

I was contemplating buying a barrel but at the current moment I would rather spend that money on an optic I want for this bad boy as well as I am not trying to make a sub MOA gun out of it, just something that can be used for fun or when the Zombies take over the earth.

Hey Randall, I'll PM you, maybe we can work something out :D

My gun smith is very well knowledgeable on the M14, and has full tooling for them. However, long beach is quite a drive away :/
