Me and some other calgunners are going to Chabot on Monday (9/3/07). Whe else wants to go??? I'll be shooting my Romy G and my AES-10B (and whatever else will fit in my PT Cruiser).

If you've never fired an AK, I'd be happy to let you shoot mine!!!

We're getting there between 10:30 and 11.

I'll probably get there a little early and *try* and hold some benches. . .

Yeah, I noticed that too........ there sure is a lot of "try" around here....

I definitely 100% can't make it; as much as I love shooting, I'm not driving 1200 miles to the range. :p

I was there on Saturday, kind of quiet. Going east over 92 was pretty good so long as you stayed in the left lane & took the back surface streets into CV and hit Redwood Rd by Castro Valley gun store. Getting on 880 north to 238 was a major back up. Going west back over the bridge was a pain without Fastrak.

Unless my girls sitter calls early AM, I am not going to make it  I usually have to work all holiday weekends. If things turn around I'll have my AES10B for sure, and other OLL x39's as well.

Had a great time, my AR10 is the bomb! Covered 5 shots with a quarter at 50 yards. Fired the Raven again to be sure it was reliable. 6 mags and no hiccups. My match trigger on the lefty Stag was set too low and double tapped on its own. Scary. Fixed now but gave me a start for sure. Thanks for the invite Oaklander and good to see the crew again.:D

oaklander

Yes - it was fun!!!

I'll make sure I post in the right forum next time!!!

Ivan - you missed the fun we had with a Fudd that was there early on.

He didn't want anyone shooting next to him and his match .22 rifle. So he blocked off the bench to his left, and asked me to move from the bench on his right. Me being the nice guy that I am, moved.

When it finally got too busy for him to hold the benches, he ended up with someone with an ungodly powerful handgun to his left (a .454 ???) and someone with an niiice muzzle brake on his right.

He was getting battered from both sides!!!

He just kept giving us and our EBR's dirty looks, and then eventually left.

It was awesome shooting Beatone's BAR, and some of the other nice toys our fellow calgunners had there. . .

Drickel - you are forgiven for showing up late - you made out like a bandit at that garage sale!!!

Also got to meet a new calgunner - he just found out about the board 12 hours ago, and rushed to make it to Chabot to meet a few of us.

It was a fun shoot all the way around!

ROFL. Probably one of those guys that ripped on us for getting scopes for AKs. :p

Wish I could have been there, I came home from Truckee after fixing some cars, and having lots of good barbecue. I'll try to make the next one.

By next time you should have your AK ready - and we'll make it an AK shoot. That'll really get the Fudd's. . .

Yea, fudd was not to happy with me. Had to keep a barrier up so he wouldn't get annoyed with my shell casings. Keep giving us dirty looks. Pretty hard to intimidate me though. He was one unhappy guy when we all showed up. :cuss:

Nah, he was unhappy when he showed up in the morning. I was there as he was setting up. Seems someone took his "usual" space. He didn't like my Lazzeroni with muzzle brake at all. Oh well.

I had a great time and I got to meet Oaklander and crew.

It was my first time at the Chabot range. What a beautiful range! Everyone that I met was terrific - especially the folks selling me box after box of ammo.

I was test driving a new SOCOM II. The darn thing was dead-on right out of the box. Now if I can just bring my shooting skills up to par with the rifle...

I guess practice makes perfect so I'm anxious to head back out there.

I'm never stepping in Chabot again....

I had a bad experience there bout 6 years ago...heard how the board has raved about it and have tried it again a couple times recently...Went there again two weeks ago and the RO pissed me off so bad I'll probably not step into Chabot again for another 6 years...if ever.

YMMV, but in my book, SCREW CHABOT. I'll drive down to Los Altos or Metcalf any day.

I like the vibe at Los Altos quite a bit, but I take wherever I can shoot. We need more places to shoot especially in California...

I've had nice experiences at all 3 of those ranges so far but may'be it's cause I'm a girl or luck of the draw. A friend of mine used to shoot at Jackson Arms till him and his friends had a bad experience with the staff. I'm sure I don't shoot half as often as everyone else, so may'be it's a matter of time before I get my first bad experience. Hopefully not, cross fingers ;)
