View Full Version : WTS - M-4 Upper 1/7 Twist Chrome Lined 14.7" w/ Perm. A2 Flash Hider

08-28-2007, 9:36 PM
I have a small ammount of the finest quality A3 upper halves available on the market. No FFL required to buy (the lower requires and FFL not the other parts).

Includes a flattop upper half with standard handguards. Does not include a rear sight or the lower half. The picture below is so you can see what the barrel looks like. Notice it looks just like a real M-4 and does not have that goofy elongated barrel that most civilian legal uppers have.

NOT AN SBR. This is legal!

This is as close to the military issue M-4 upper half you can get. Drops onto any milspec lower.

This upper is better for several reasons:

Most civilian uppers are not chrome lined, have a slow 1/9 twist rate, and have barrels that are excessively long and look really goofy.

The ATF says that if the flash hider is pinned and welded then it counts as part of the barrel. So we took a 14.7" barrel and pinned and welded a birdcage style flash hider to give it an authetic look.

Most uppers wear out really fast because they are not chrome-lined.

This barrel and chamber are chrome lined and will last a really long time.

Most uppers are only 1/9 twist. That means they can only handle cheap light weight ammo.

This upper's barrel has a 1/7 twist rate so it can handle the high end match ammo and will be very accurate.

These are the best uppers money can buy.

OK...for a limited time I am offering a special deal on this upper.

If you order by PM using your PayPal account I will pay your shipping and sales tax.

Just the Upper
$545 Delivered!

Upper, Det. Carry Handle OR 6-Position Stock (includes buffer, spring, etc.)
$610 Delivered!

Package 3:
Upper, Det. Carry Handle AND 6-Position Stock (includes buffer, spring, etc.)
$675 Delivered!

The carry handle is made by Tapco, and so is the stock. Occassionally I will substitute a Target Sports stock when my supplier is out. All are very well made reliable parts that you will love.

PM me for my paypal account if you wish to buy!

Remember, I have a HUGE selection of parts on my website so feel free to visit http://www.tacticalcity.com and shop around. I even have 16.5" kits that include the lower parts kits for slightly less money. That is because they required less work to make them (no perm. flash hider) and they come from a different supplier (ship from another supplier).

I would include lower parts kits but the supplier who stocks my CMMG Uppers does not carry them ;-(

Feel free to purchase them off my website seperately though.

This deal is a CalGuns.net exclusive!!! And it will NOT last forever!!!

The complete barrel length is 16.1" because the flash hider is permently attached and counts as part of the barrel.

This is because most civilian uppers are really 16.5 inches or longer before they add the flash hider. They look funny.

08-28-2007, 9:46 PM
is that a detachable carry handle?

08-28-2007, 10:28 PM
The upper is an A3 flattop upper, if that is what you are asking. Thank you for reminding me to clarify that fact. There are soooo many things to tell people when selling these things.

The main things that make this unique are the shorter barrel length while still being legal and the chrome lined chamber and 1/7 twist bore.

That is really hard to find.

It does not come with a rear sight. But you can attach any kind of sight you want on it.

Ships from Florida.

08-29-2007, 6:26 AM
Who is the manufacturer of the upper? LMT? Colt? Bushmaster?

08-29-2007, 7:09 AM
Does it come ready to go?

08-29-2007, 7:15 AM
Thread moved to commercial sales....

08-29-2007, 10:43 AM
I would also like to know who the manufacturer of these uppers is.

08-29-2007, 5:12 PM
CMMG makes these uppers.

The quality is amazing. I love mine more than words can express. I sell Bushmaster, Del-Ton, and others. This is the most impressive upper I have ever owned. That is why I was so excited to be able to get more at wholesale and offer them to you. They are that great!

Yes, they are ready to rock. Just drop it on your lower and you're ready to go. Includes charging handle and bolt and carrier. All you need is the lower half and a rear sight. They have been headspace checked and testfired by CMMG before shipping.

08-29-2007, 5:15 PM
If I posted in the wrong place I am sorry. The category description sounded correct to me.

08-29-2007, 5:36 PM
How much extra does it cost to add a carry handle with rear sight like the ones shown in the pics?

08-29-2007, 5:52 PM
Yes, I have detachable carry handles and flip-up rear sights on my website.

These one's ship from the same wharehouse as the upper...

08-29-2007, 6:06 PM
Looks good. I will let you know in a few days on the upper and carry handle w/sight.

I need a complete upper and collapsible stock to finish my Stag lower. While we are on the subject, what do you reccommend for a collapsible(like the one in the pics) stock and a price?

08-29-2007, 6:34 PM
I can get a few different kinds of stocks. If you want Vltor or Magpul or something like that let me know I will look it up.

Personally I like the 6 position M-4 stock.

Comes with all the necessary accessory parts such as tube, buffer, end plate, castle nut.

Brand is either Target Sports or Tapco. It depends on what is in-stock. Both are equally great 6-Position stocks. Vltor, Command Arms, and even Bushmaster are available for more money. Let me know what you want and I will find it.

This page has all my stocks: http://www.tacticalcity.com/tacticalcity/sub_category.asp?CatID=1&SubCatID=12

Please note: The A2 buttstocks and stocks made by ACE ship from a seperate wharehouse as the upper.

NOTE: Includes buffer, spring, etc.

08-29-2007, 6:53 PM
Sounds great on the collapsible stock. Thanks for the info and i'll make my final decision within the next few days. I want to get this sucker done.

08-30-2007, 12:37 PM
This is what my finished project looks like. I added lots of accessories. I wanted you to see at least one alternative configuration with this upper.

09-01-2007, 6:20 PM
That looks great. Sweet set up!!

Boy that upper sure looks tempting as I am getting ready to build a California legal M4

09-03-2007, 12:58 PM
I like it. It has a more balanced look to it. Now if you're going to get some with a muzzle brake pinned onto the barrel, that would give us the option of going fixed mag or featurless.

09-03-2007, 1:35 PM
Alright guys, I cleaned up this thread earlier today and my own prior comment just lead to confusion...

Anyways - I've cleaned up this thread, let's all keep it civil and on-topic as well as within the rules of our forum.

09-03-2007, 7:22 PM
How much just for the barrel assembly?

09-04-2007, 12:07 AM
Minimum available version is the complete upper assembly.

09-04-2007, 9:51 AM
I can get a few different kinds of stocks. If you want Vltor or Magpul or something like that let me know I will look it up.

Personally I like the 6 position M-4 stock. I have one for $60 if you buy it with the upper freight is included.

Comes with all the necessary accessory parts such as tube, buffer, end plate, castle nut.

Does this include the spring? If not i need to make arrangements to get one. No big deal just want to have everything ready to go and not waiting on more parts.

09-04-2007, 5:35 PM
It includes everything. Spring, buffer, etc. I was confused as well so I bought one for myself. It came with everything. Please note: I am now selling them off my website for $63-65. Here is the link...

Thats what I am waiting on...

09-09-2007, 11:28 PM
Thats what I am waiting on...

They are just CMMG uppers.
What more feedback do you need?

If the carriers turn out to need staking, get it done.
If the bolts turn out to have blue extractor inserts and 4 coil springs, change them out.
Otherwise, just go shoot them as they are good to go.

09-09-2007, 11:44 PM
I'm thinking about getting one of these..

09-10-2007, 12:38 AM
Fine day to go shooting is it not?

Sorry, I have not sold on CalGuns.net before so I do not have an iTrader rating yet. I should have one very soon as I have sold a lot of uppers through this posting.

Here is some information about me, and my business practices that might ease people's minds.

TacticalCity.com has been around for 10+ years. It has been over 4 years since I have had a single return for any reason. That is pretty impressive in itself. I only recently started selling uppers since my primary supplier only recently started carrying them. My secondary supplier has a large selection, but most are not as high-end as these. So I figured I would wait to sell something on CalGuns.net until I something I felt was worthy of the attention of experts.

The only flaw in my business is that I have to rely on my supplier's inventory and my supplier's buyer. There are very few decent suppliers who will let you buy as needed. Most require a several thousand dollar buy in and have minimum orders well over a thoudand dollars. That's not within my business model. I am strictly an online retailer. Fortunately, I do have an account with the two largest firearms parts suppliers in the country. Sadly, they are only now realizing that there is a market for upper assemblies.

Here is some information about my business practices that help protect you...

1) If you pay via paypal you get their buyer protection services.
2) If you pay via credit card you get their buyer protection services.
3) I do not accept checks or money orders because they offer you no protection and they are a pain for me to cash.
4) I send you a tracking number as soon as I get one.
5) All items drop ship from my supplier. I'm not gun smithing anything.
6) My rating on ebay is outstanding.

Here is my ebay store...rating is there. 97+ %. I have 100% positive feedback from people who bought something from me. My 1 negative rating is from somebody selling me something that turned out to be a knockoff and didn't like that I figured it out and complained about it. Oh and it was over a year ago.

09-10-2007, 1:45 AM
Just ordered my upper and carry handle, thanks again!

09-10-2007, 4:22 AM
Any feedback from CG members that ordered these?

According to UPS mine should arrive this afternoon. The transaction itself was quick and easy. He pm'd me my order confirmation and tracking number within hours.

09-10-2007, 11:13 AM
I just want to make sure people know the charging handle, bolt and carrier are included in the base price.

Some dealers sell those parts seperately, and some people have PM'd me asking for confirmation that I included them.

I include them with my uppers.

There is nothing worse than thinking you are getting a good deal only to discover you need more parts.

All you need in addition to this upper is...

1) A rear sight.
2) A buttstock.
3) A lower receiver.
4) A lower parts kit.
5) A mag lock to stay legal in California.

I can get 1-2 for you. The rest I do not have access to. Ten Percent Firearms has an exclusive deal on the MagLocks I think.

There are tutorials on how to assemble your lower receiver and how to attach the upper. It is all see spot run stuff. No special tools are required. Just a screw driver, hammer, punch tool, and pliers. All standard stuff.

Hey, if I can do it anybody can!

There are plenty of postings in the 2ND AMMENDMENT SECTION of CalGuns.net to help you ensure you build is legal. It only seems complicated at first. It is actually pretty clear cut. What they boil down to is keep the maglock screwed down and you're legal. Loosen it an you're not. (For the experts put there this upper has an A2 flash hider so a maglock or bullet button is needed).

09-10-2007, 11:27 AM
Doh! Just realized that thanks! It was a little past my bed time last night :)

09-10-2007, 5:49 PM
Received my upper receiver, carry handle w/rear sight, 6 position stock and gun bag today. Everything looks superb. I'll try to post some pics when i get a chance.

09-10-2007, 5:58 PM
I am very glad you like it. Please give me an iTrader rating when you have some free time. That ZERO is apparently scaring people off. Thanks again for your order. Hope to see you at the range ;-)

Ohh, there's the rating. Thank you very much Larry. Can't wait to see what your finished project looks like. It is going to a great rifle.

Mine came in today as well! Everything looks great! I would definately order from Joe again! He was very professional, quick, honest! And.... AND.....AND..... He's an Air Force guy........ LOL! J/K He is a great guy and like I said, I would definately order from him again!

I will put up some photos when I finish the build! SUPER STOKED!

09-10-2007, 9:40 PM
Glad to hear you liked the upper. Can't wait to see the final build. Like everyone else here, I am definately into pics of cool ARs.

If you like it now...wait until you get it on the range! That 1/7 twist rate is really nice. I noticed a difference between it any my 1/9 twist rate upper using 55 grain ammo. Plus it can shoot the high-end stuff too.

09-10-2007, 10:10 PM
I would definately order from Joe again! He was very professional, quick, honest!

+100 to that! He answered all my PMS really fast (I am a night person, when I send someone a PM at 1am I usually don't expect a reply till the next morning, but Joe replied right away). Plus 1 hour after sending over my payment I had a tracking number. Now that is fats service! I can't wait for my upper :)

That 1/7 twist rate is really nice. I noticed a difference between it any my 1/9 twist rate upper using 55 grain ammo.

IF you noticed a difference between the CMMG barrel and your current barrel, it had to do with the quality of the CMMG barrel, or the poor crown of your current 1:9 barrel.
It was NOT the faster twist rate that makes it shoot better.
Faster twist rates will make groups larger because of in-consistencies in low cost bullets.
Staying with premium grade bullets will mostly eliminate any accuracy deficiencies of faster twist rates.

A 1:9" twist it a better twist rate for 55gr bullets than 1:7 twist.
1:12" twist is even better for 55gr bullets.

09-12-2007, 9:12 AM
We can debate about what twist rate is the best until we are blue in the face. If you look at this and other forums people have and do...

The fact is this. Most uppers on the market can not handle the high grade heavy grain ammo. 1:12 definately can not. All the data I have seen says 1:9 can not. Only 1:8 and 1:7 can. The heavier the harder it is to stabelize in flight. So you need a faster twist rate to get it spinning faster so it can stay on course and be accurate.

The real M-4 has a 1:7 twist rate, M-4 feedramps, and a chrome-lined chamber and bore. This upper has all of those things.

99% of the uppers on the market not only have a barrel that looks noticably different, they don't match the specs of a real M-4 either. This upper does.

The ideal buyer of this upper is someone who wants something as close to real thing as the law allows without filing for an SBR tax stamp both in regards to looks and specs.

I think having a debate about twist rates...on this particular thread is counter productive. In part because I do not totally agree with you...and in part because it distracts people. Now they might hesitate because your argument confuses them...and doing anything to discourage people from buying something on these forums is against the rules.

I am not saying you're trying to talk people out of buying this upper. You and I both know it is a great deal. But you're getting hung up on a technical argument that is distracting to the newbies.

You're only right if they plan on only shooting the low grade ammo. At some point, maybe even from the start, they will want to push the accuracy envelope and shoot the high-end stuff. At which point, they will really want and need the faster twist rate.

If all they want to do is plink. And accuracy is not as important as saving $20...then you're right a 1:9 will do.

There is no question that if they can get a 1:7 twist upper for the same or less than a 1:9 twist upper it is a smart buy. Most uppers I have seen on the web cost more the this upper does. I know, because I sell them too ;-)

09-12-2007, 10:32 AM
I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from buying anything.
I'm just bringing up a VERY specific comment you made about the difference between 1:7" and 1:9" barrels where you mentioned using 55gr ammo.

There is surely a need for 1:8" twist barrels to shoot heavy match grade bullets and 1:7" barrels to shoot long tracers.

The average shooter who will probably never shoot those long tracers will never truly NEED a 1:7 though.
All you NEED to shoot 55's is a 1:12" twist.

People should not be confused into thinking that a faster twist is automatically better.
Slower twists ARE more accurate when the limiting factor is the quality of the bullet.
Benchrest shooters know this and that's why they use 1:13" and 1:14" twist barrels.

People will always buy what they want, not what they need, so all is well. :)

The upper you are selling is certainly a good value.

09-12-2007, 12:34 PM
I have an argument against every point you're making, and I am sure your have an argument against my points.

I see no point in a 1:12 or 1:9 upper if you can get a 1:7 upper for the same price or less. You're handicapping yourself right out of the gate.

The 1:7 upper does just fine with 55 grain, and does an amazing job with the heavier match grade ammo.

Where as a slower twist will do a slightly better job with 55 grain, but does a lousy job with the high end ammo.

Now, if you're argument is that 99% of shooters are just plinkers and buy the cheapest crap they can get...so why do they need a 1:7 twist...I might agree. Except we all want the high-end when we can afford it.

Why drive a Ferrari when a Honda can drive the speed limit just as easily?

Why wear Oakleys when the $5 shades at the gas station will do?

Why buy a house when a trailer will keep you out of the cold?

Same argument for this upper over others. You want it because it is the best you can get for the money. You may never need the ability to shoot Sierra Match Ammo...but it sure is nice to know you can if you need to.

Besides, if we were the kind of people who were willing to settle, we would not be taking about the AR at all. We would be at the SKS forum arguing of Yugos vs. Chinese made SKS rifles ;-)

09-12-2007, 1:40 PM
Now, if you're argument is that 99% of shooters are just plinkers

I'm glad we could agree on that.

The following 4-rail handguards are very easy to install and can I will ship them with any of the before mentioned upper packages.

Note: Other 4-rail handguards are available on my website http://www.tacticalcity.com!

Simply and easily replaces the M4 handguards that come with this upper.

You don't need to remove the front signt post but you will need to loosen your delta ring and carefully use a dremil tool to cut it off.

I am 99% sure it is a drop in replacement and nothing needs to be removed. Confirm with an expert who has already installed one on this forum.
Inventory extremely limited on this one, confirm it is instock first please.

Makes removing your existing handguards and installing new ones very easy!

Free BTT too! :D

Is the entire upper a CMMG factory build?

What is the price if I pick it up in Florida?

10-15-2007, 11:35 PM
Yes it is a CMMG factory build.

Sorry no pickups. My supplier does not allow my customers to deal with them directly. It is a question of liability for them.

Oh, and thank youto Phantom_Piney I emailed you a tracking number.

10-16-2007, 6:10 AM
Its more like Thank You for providing me with that tracking number, its been a pleasure. Thanks again Joe. ;)

10-19-2007, 5:07 PM
Hi all...:) I just want to thank Joe at TacticalCity for providing outstanding service while processing my order for my CMMG upper. Everything came boxed and well packaged and beyond my wildest expectations, and I must say I am one happy camper. Now if I can figure out a way to up load a few of these pictures to Calguns all will be well.

:D Oh yes, and one big shout to all at Calguns.net for your help and support your the best.

10-19-2007, 10:34 PM
You could store the pictures somewhere else online and link to them. That's you're best bet.

Glad you like the upper, and I am glad you were pleased with how well everything went. I appreciate your business.
