What I'm actually looking for are individual crime incidents wherein the aggressor has been stopped by a legally held firearm - CCW or otherwise. Likewise, I'm also interested in finding incidents where the victim might have been able to protect themselves if they had a CCW, or incidents in counties were CCW's aren't available.

Anyone know of something like this, or am I doomed to hitting newspaper and county sheriff/pd archives and press releases?

This is for a research project, BTW - pro-gun rights media.

Feel free to PM or email me if you don't want to post in thread. Any and all info will help, thanks.

You are stuck hitting news articles. Go here for an example: http://www.cato.org/pubs/wtpapers/WP-Tough-Targets.pdf

You're stuck.

You can read NRA-ILA 'Armed Citizen', but you have just walked into Gary Kleck/Marc Gertz territory on research into Defensive Gun Use - DGU.

http://www.saf.org/lawreviews/kleckandgertz1.htm
"ARMED RESISTANCE TO CRIME: THE PREVALENCE AND NATURE OF SELF-DEFENSE WITH A GUN"
Gary Kleck Marc Gertz is the base document.

Thanks guys, that's what I was afraid of. Looks like it's old fashioned research time.
