View Full Version : Brady Campaign Plays the Race Card?

It seems to me that the Brady Campaign is trying to scare up some fear by disproportionately portraying black criminals in their propaganda materials.

See: http://www.bradycampaign.org/pdf/download/criminals.pdf for example. Or: http://www.bradycampaign.org/pdf/download/caig-insert.pdf

Setting aside the fact that there *are* racial differences when it comes to crime statistics, this tactic seems interesting to me.

I would not put it past the Brady Bunch to attempt to use race to scare white voters into passing more gun control legislation.

I use the race card when arguing in favor of changing Ca from may issue to shall issue for CCWs by pointing out that may issue states are racist and classist in who gets permits issued. Two can play the race card ;).

DING! DING! DING!

I wonder if an audit of CCW permit holders in CA counties would show a disproportionate amount of rich, white, male permit holders?

Can we use this?

I thought those were the requirements to get a CCW in Cali. . .

:D

I love the way Michael More tries to paint the NRA as the KKK. Gun banners have a long history of targeting people with without white skin for the longest time.

That what I did wrong on the application. I should have pointed out my white maleness.

Yeah, well Oleg Volk makes it seem that the only gun owners out there are hot women.

Does Oleg make any PSA spots with his stuff?

Some of his posters and ads pasted around California might be an idea we could help execute in our corner of the world.

Maybe a Calguns campaign?

Gun control is inherently racist. The data show that If gun control is an attempt to stop gun homicide in America, then it is really an attempt to stop minorities from committing crime. Sadly, that's pretty much the entire story of gun control starting just after the Civil War...

There is a reason the Deacons for Defense and Justice were such a neccessary reaction.

I'll never understand why some clever lawyer hasn't figuered this out. He can collect exhorbitant legal costs under US Title II if he prevails, just like the ACLU has been doing for years.

I'm of the opinion that those clever lawyers you speak of are not in the habit of feeding from the government trough like elite socialist's.

The idea is out there, is there a lawyer who can run with it and some other-than-white males interested in a class action?

Another big :iagree:! I use Deacons for Defense as an example of the necessity of the 2nd Amendment for defending against the government in just about every gun control debate I get in.

Deacons for Defense and Justice

Until now I hadn't heard of this outfit.
Aside from Google is there a good starting point to read and understand about DDJ?

Found a writing by Larry Pratt of the DDJ

I suspect if the same thing were to take place now the Feds and state police would be all over those sporting the defensive weapons. These guys did it in a responsible manner and the police knew it.

The book (http://www.amazon.com/Deacons-Defense-Resistance-Rights-Movement/dp/0807857025/ref=sr_1_3/002-3605814-5281637?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1188091491&sr=8-3) that the link you sent also refers to is an excellent read. If you want to be seriously armed in the debate about the fail safe nature that the Second Amendment serves in the Bill of Rights, this needs to be in your library.
