I was reading this thread over at arfcom and after seeing all the people with money dictate the prices on stuff gun related right now it really made me think about how deadly this could be if the panic was over food.

I would imagine in a food shortage there would be a huge blackmarket with the usual inflated prices but with people's health at stake not their gun supplies.

Interesting to think about. Quite scary too.

Look what a small percentage of Americans has done to the guns/ammo market. Now, since EVERYONE (not just gun owners) needs food and water, imagine 300,000,000+ people in a food panic buy!

There would be armed gangs (read: your local youth club) taking over truck rigs before they arrive at the store, much less make it into the distribution chain.

Look what happened on the Black Friday sales semi-riots for cheap, foreign crap.

I assume the National Guard would be called up to quell the populace...

Great idea.... if of course people could get past the perimeter my family and friends and I have set up around our local Costco.

But yes, a food panic would be a very hairy situation. I'm sure the biggest shoot outs and fights would be happening in the cities. Rural areas probably not so much but it would not be pretty no matter where you were.

What you fail to realize is most people don't have the money to stock up on food like we do ammo.

Most urban area's have 14 days of food in them.

Think about 18 million hungry folks trying to find food in the LA basin.

It will get ugly fast.

When my country had its civil war I know my best friends parents traded a brand new car for 100kg of flour. My dad stacks food. He's always telling me that we don't realize that everything we waste our money is bull**** that you don't know how viable food, water, gas, etc is

Watching Paris Hilton or the Kardashians or any other celebrity scouring the land in search of their next meal would bring a smile to my face.

I think I just found my new life philosophy for women, ammo, guns, food. Basically anything :43:
