Hi Guys,

What's the difference between these 2 and which one is better?

thanks

Zastava AK parts are usually machined and finished better than Romanian Parts.
I may be wrong, Yugo barrels are not chrome lined, but Romanian barrels usually are.

Zastava was far superior until Clinton bombed them into oblivion.

The M-92 is a real Krink with the correct hinged AKSU top cover with the rear sight on it for a longer sight radius. The Draco looks like what it is, a chopped down AKM. The M-92 also has tritium night sights.

My M-92 demilled military (not virgin) kits from ORF (2004 & 2005) all have them. You do have to flip them up to see them. Yes, they are tritium & will glow bright all night long in a dark room.

OP is asking about Draco vs Zastava PAP92. We're not talking about demilled military kits here from 04-05.

I have a draco, I would have swapped it for a PAP if I knew any better before I hacked on it.

Draco's are nice and all, but when it comes down to it, its a romanian gun.

So PAP M92 is better? I already have a WASR 10, are these pistols any good compared to AK rifles or they are just novelties?

thanks

I feel they are. Built much heavier, nicer fit and finish on the ones I have seen.

Well, I converted mine to a rifle for a reason, I'll leave it at that.

the PAP 92 is a much higher quality build pistol than the Draco. The Draco has a chrome lined barrel which the PAP does not. The Draco is alot rougher in construction than the PAP 92. I have a Draco that I can hit anything I want so far at 100 yards all day long. I have fired a PAP pistol and it feels great to fire and the weapon as a whole feels very sturdy and the bolt hold open magazine is nice as is the bolt hold open selector lever. I had to modify my Draco to have a bolt hold open lever. For the money if you can get one I say buy the PAP but is all you can find is a Draco its also a good buy as well. Both factory made with original receivers.

Both shoot 7.62x39...That is your answer...I can shoot open sights to 125 yrds at SLOSAs first level plates with my Draco and hit them consistently enough to make it a very viable rifle as well...That must make it a crappy gun? Could be the shooter so I guess I am better than most.

In the end...I will get a PAP as well...These conversations mean nothing when I don't have both...AR vs AK I still take the AK. YMMV.

Get both, that's what I did! They both have thier +'s and -'s. The Draco can use any AK forend, you are limited with the PAP. The PAP is about as close to a Krink as you can get without building your own from an expensive kit. PAP Krink kits were going for over $700 not too long ago, I picked up my PAP for $700 otd.

I believe there is a difference in barrel length between the two pistols as well. IIRC, the Yugo PAP M92 has a barrel length of 10". Whereas the Romanian Draco has a barrel length of 12.4"

The last few Draco models were 11.5

Another difference...
Draco = no longer being imported to the USA
PAP M92 = currently being imported to the USA

I owned a Draco.
The PAP M92 is better built than the Draco. (Serbians have better quality control & attention to detail, than the Romanians)

I was all jazzed about the Pap last year but the non-chrome barrel was a deal breaker. I find it strange that Yugo/Serbian AKs have non-chrome barrels yet Yugo/Serbian ammo are corrosive.

The region did not have the natural resources to make chromed items.

Which is why almost all the firearms from that region, do not have chromed-lined barrels. The cost to do so, was deemed to be to great.

Post-2000, Croatia started making some firearms with chromed-lined barrels.

Shoot non corrosive ammo and keep your gun clean. Not a big deal. Anyone shot the Zastava M92? I have never bought a gun without even having shot it before and a grand isnt cheap. I guess I could always sell it if I dont like it but it looks like a ton of fun to shoot from Youtube videos.

Most of the non-corrosive stuff is magnetic which is not allowed at ranges. The only non-magnetic, non-corrosive stuff available is the pricier ammo which takes the fun out of shooting an AK.
