Anyone out there remember Dan Dwyer's shop in Hillcrest? I was lucky enough to have him do work on my Series 70 Colt. Anyway, I'm now seeking a gunsmith to work on my Colt (barrel fitting) and also a Browning Hi-Power (trigger job). Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!!

Ray Booze at Ironsights in Oceanside-he is there on Mondays-knowledgeable-experienced-old school-more than fair price. Good luck.

I remember Dan Dwyer, one of the grouchiest men on the planet, but a REALLY good smith, especially on 1911's....although he did do work on one of my revolvers.

Guys with that kind of talent are few and far between now-a-day.

I don't really remember him. The 1911 guru I use is Mark Bunnach, the OC Gunsmith (http://www.ocgunsmith.com), did all of my 1911s.

Check these out...

Barrel fitting on any 1911 and a trigger job on a Browning HP would be cake walk for him. He could easily get you squared away at his bench, dude.

I used to go into his shop with my Dad when I was a little kid. I think his old shop is a florist now.
