View Full Version : Easiest Fishing Near Big Bear?

You know, the places where you pay and drop a piece of corn on a bamboo pole or even a bare hook and they bite.

Going camping in Big Bear this weekend and might try and get my 11 year old stepdaughter on a fish if possible.

Time (up there for an event) and her patience are limited, so dunking a line in the lake is mostly out ( and I don't have a license and haven't used my rod in 15+years - hey, no jokes about that!)

I'd been planning on taking her to Whitewater, but it got sold and closed.

I think Irvine Lake has such a pond; gotta look into that later.

But for now, anything in the Big Bear area?

Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately I never fish down there I'm more into going to the Sierras. I will ask around and see what I can find out.

I fished lake Gregory a lot when I was a kid. Last time I was there (about 20 years ago), it was shoulder to shoulder along the shore. I remember it being a good place to get a limit within a couple of hours, but that was before it got popular.

There used to be a place just past (east?)the road that goes up to Bear Mountain off of the main drag through town. It's been a couple of years, so details are real hazy.
