Is there another Gun Rights Advocacy group besides the NRA that we can support?

The 2nd Amendment Foundation has been racking up legal victories for gun rights in the Judicial system and are a growing organization.

The "alternative" organizations are not in competition with NRA, they are complementing NRA. Many individuals are members of all of them.

I agree that every one should be contributing to the SAF. I think the only way we get our rights back in California is through litigation and the courts. The SAF and CGF are the most important for us in that respect.

NRA's strength is in lobbying in Wash DC. It wields a lot of power and I suggest membership in the NRA just for that reason. The alternative group is Gun Owners of America. Their counterpart in Sacramento is Gun Owners of California. They both take really strong positions for us but lack the shear numbers in membership that the NRA has. I recommend membership in all 3.

Just my thoughts. The NRA is what we need and a move away from them is like voting for a third party candidate. The whole thing divides and conquers us.

Any support of other organizations should be after your membership in the NRA

Respectfully,
Bill

Support...

The NRA (http://home.nra.org/#/nraorg) for political muscle and training programs.

The SAF (http://saf.org/) for court room muscle in the effort to overturn bad laws.

Calguns Foundation (http://calgunsfoundation.org/) to support 2nd Amendment legal battles here in California.

The RWVA (http://www.appleseedinfo.org/) to spread marksmanship training and the story of American independence to new shooters.

We need to support them all until it hurts but right now we need to sign up as many new NRA members as humanly possible.

Ron Paul supporter? How'd that work out?Umm.... It didn't work out as good as Romney?

In this political climate, you think you would just leave Ron Paul alone. He was more pro-liberty/pro-2A than Romney would ever hope to be.

True, but hence the well known contradiction. If you want to win, you need not get stronger yourself, you need to create an alternative for your opponents.

Left leaning super-PACs would have been very smart to have donated to Ron Paul not because they supported him, but because they couldn't stand him.

The Republicans lost a Senate seat in Montana because this tactic. The Democrats funnelled money to a Libertarian candidate in the general election who was able to siphon enough votes off Rehberg so that Tester won re-election. Had the Libertarian not been in the race, Rehberg would've won.

To Libertarians, perfect but unatainable is better than 99% and attainable.
