With all the anti-gun stuff to start hitting the airways here is a good resource on the real gun facts: http://gunfacts.info/pdfs/gun-facts/6.1/gun_facts_6_1_screen.pdf

I posted it in facebook and these are the replies I get from some people..

Couldn't get passed the 12th page.

Lol that pdf is so full of crap. The cherry picking of statistics is embarrassingly bad, put together in 2012...but only shows stats up to 2005 and 1999 in certain instances (australia, england, wales and scotland).

The laws weren't revoked in 2000, it's called confirmation bias. Australia, England, Wales and Scotland are enjoying the lowest homicide and violent crime rates in over 30 years. Gun bans are long term solutions, change shouldn't be expected immediately. The one on Japan is really misleading as well since they have some of the lowest death by firearm rates in the entire world now. Dumb pdf is dumb.

I lived in Japan and Belgium. I noticed that crime was way under reported, where in the US, we tend to over report to sensationalize it, and make things seem worse than they actually are.

Sounds about right.

Because they don't care if their overall crime rate went up... the GUN CRIME went DOWN! OMG.

You won't believe how many people don't care what the numbers are....

You'll be called unempathetic, impedent, uncivilized, souless, blind, racist, and much much more.

You will present a well constructed and supported argument that goes unanswered.

You will follow the standard method of testing the validility of an argument and (or) explaining a similar anecdote which emphasizes their use of pseudoscience, yet be labled a bigot and no less guilty than the murderer themselves.

You can't argue with stupid nor reason with crazy... It just don't work.

That gunfacts link from the OP has another error. In the very first graph it says Switzerland has less than 30% household gun ownership. That's not true. Switzerland has almost 100% household gun ownership. They have mandatory military service and everyone gets to keep their gun! and Switzerland with highest household gun ownership and gun training in the world has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.

Just that one mistake makes me suspect of the rest of their "facts".

Sorry Marhor you need to check YOUR facts. Swiss males are required to be in the Militia between the ages or 20 and 30 and they are required to keep their rifles and/or pistol with them at home. They are given approximately 50 rounds of ammo in a sealed container. After their Militia service they return their firearms to the military. I have friends is Switzerland and have been in many many homes that didn't have fire arms. I also have friends in the Militia and have seen their firearms, most keep them in the back of a closet and don't mess with them. Out of site out of mind.

I found two different sources online that say about 30% of households have guns. Look it up 30% is the number.

Why does Lapierre need to say anything, just hand this over, and Piers Morgan, shut your loud mouth up for an hour and educate yourself

As always, statistics are how you interpret them, or how they are interpreted.

I notice on TV the anti-gunners cite statistics that are not true, BUT because they say them over and over people recite them as true and people then believe them. Example- When Mussalinni took over Italy, the trains then ran on time. when I was doing my masters, I read a book called histories myths, it stated train were the same before and during Mussalinis reign- no change. But how many tmes have you heard someone say that line? The point of the book was things were said so many times even today people believe them as fact, BUT it was never so.
