Speculate on how this would have gone down in CA?

Didn't they have something like this in Oakland at some point where tickets to a game or cash was provided in exchange for guns being turned in?

We have them every so often out here. I'm keeping an eye out for the next one so I can go and buy some guns for pennies on the dollar.

Read it again. The police are keeping it for her while she works out finding a buyer. Although I'm not sure how that works given that it may never have been registered with the ATF - Hughes Amendment?

In any case, how it would have gone down here is most likely that it would have been taken with no questions asked and destroyed, possibly without ever being recognized for what it was. It sounds like the expert was assigned for just this sort of eventuality. Probably not standard procedure in California buybacks.

Cavanna said ammunition would have to be especially made for this gun.

While not common, the 7.92 Kurz is not that hard to find

That link has the best comment ever:

"Criminals kill people, we should have a criminal buy back day. You get 100bucks for bringing in criminals to get destroyed."

There was a thread on this couple days back.

And there is an open thread for this in OT, where it belongs.
