View Full Version : I got a 2A legal question, any lawyers out there?

Just curious,

I'm no lawyer, so any views from anyone in the know would be appreciated. From a legal standpoint, since CA gun laws tell us which guns we can & can't buy, wouldn't that be INFRINGING on our right to keep & bear arms by limiting our ability to acquire the arms of our choice?

Of course this is from a literal & very simplistic point of view... but I was always taught that the US Constitution and it's amendments were always meant to be interpreted simply & literally.

Any attorneys, legal students, etc. out there that can explain this situation (paradox) to me.

Thanks, JD

PS - Please don't turn this into a thread with questions about grenades & missiles. My intention with this thread isn't to answer these types of questions. Just to see if CA is complying with 2A. :)

Thanks for the info. I read a big chunk of info about the forthcoming litigation. I've only lived in CA for a few years. I guess it took a few years to get frustrated... It's good to know my question wasn't silly, just very slow coming.

Cross motions for summary judgement are coming in a couple of months.
