I'm looking to pick up some 10 round 9mm mags for my RIA 1911. Anyone have any experience with the Tripp Research or Wilson Combat mags?

I use the Tripp Research with the dogleg followers (I called them and requested it, they sent them out free). I've had excellent results with it so far. Expensive magazines, but they work great in both 9mm and .45 versions.

I have the Wilson and they have been flawless as well. The compeition guys talk very highly of the Tripp mags so I don't think you can go wrong with either brand.

Let me start by saying all I use is Wilson for my 45's. But my experience with the 9mm is not so good. The feed lips separated on all three of mine causing bad jams. They also ruined the bottom of my barrels' feed ramp.

This of course is just my experience, but after this I will never recommend these mags. I am switching all my 9mm to Tripp.

I currently have wilson combat mags, but I've heard nothing but good things about tripp research cobra mags. You can't go wrong with either ones.

Tripp are the best. Buddy just got some Dawson and is real happy with them.

^ pretty much. Both are good, but I like and use Tripps primarily now in .45 and 9mm.

I have these Metalform 9MM 10 rounders, they feed great in a Springfield and a custom 1911.
They seat easily in the gun when fully loaded and lock open every time.

Tripp. Never had an issue with them.

I've used both, and could never get the ETM magazines to work. In particular, they wouldn't seat with the action closed. Sold those, switched to Tripp Research, and they performed flawlessly.

Another vote for Tripp.

I also use metalform on my 1911 9mm because my 1911 does not like Tripp and Wilson. Every time I use JHP rounds with Tripp and Wilson Combat magazines. My 1911 will have FTF for some weird reason.

Wilsons didn't work in my SA so had to return them. Metalforms do not lock my SA slide back.

Another vote for TrippCobra mags for your 9mm 1911. Good customer service too.

Tripp is really good. We're not the only ones that say that either.

I use both for my Springfield Armory 9mm 1911. Both work fine for me. They also work well in my Colt 1911 9mm.

Wilson ETM's won't seat with a full ten rounds in my Springer 9mm. Just load 9 rounds and they work fine but I will be getting rid of them (want a full 10 rounds). I have had good luck the Metalform 10 round mags and I want to give Tripp a try.

Tripp magazines are designed to present the round slightly higher up on the feed ramp. It is supposed to increase reliability. They must be correct as my 9mm Tripp mags are flawless.

Metalform are great.

I am surprised that no "1911's should be in .45" *******s posted yet.....

They forget that 38super is one awesome round.

I think those who post that haven't ever really tried a 9mm 1911 and realize just how ridiculously fun it is too shoot. Soft recoil, awesome trigger, short reset, great ergonomics and fast follow-ups. It's like a metal glock! :hide:

Absolutely right on.

Still shooting that 9mm Commander, Richard?
