In .40 cal...

:drool5: :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:

I was absolutely shocked when the recoil felt like a cap gun after going through 150 rds of .40 cal in my XD. I actually almost didn't like it because it felt like a toy. A toy that tore holes in my target like a 12 gauge point blank. And the aim was dead on from the first shot.

How do I break the news to my wife?

That is a beautiful gun! I just have the standard P226 in .40, but it's a nice gun.

Wait till you try an all steel gun, like a 1911. If you think that 226 shoots well with its aluminum frame, you'll love the heft of steel.

Steel is real I tell ya.

What model XD do you have (service or tactical)? If the Sigs barrel was longer, it would reduce the recoil. Not sure how heavier the Sig frame is over the XD polymer, but the extra weight will make any sort of rapid firing (i.e. not taking 6 or 7 seconds between shots to reacquire the target) more accurate.

My XD is for HD not target shooting, for that I have 2 full steel guns :0)

+1

Sig 226's and 229's have all-steel frames available, 40.2 oz (2.5 lbs) and 42.2 oz (2.6 lbs) respectively. ;)

my plain p226r's have aluminum frames. they are very light. with the .22 cal coversion kit, they weigh next to nothing. feels wierd without the heavy stainless steel 9mm or .40 cal slide.

Now I want to try it! I've only shot .40 through a 23, which was unmemorable, and a USP, which I HATED. The Sig could be interesting to try the round with.

Funny, I found 3 handguns in my garage, a S12, and Ak74 since my first handgun in Feb. She witnessed me handling the S12 and said you have a shotgun now?!!

Where can you guys get a stainless elite? Its an off roster gun, so you'll have to SSE it, unless you are exempt

OP, wait til you get a chance to shoot an x5.

According to Sig's website (http://www.sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/p226-elite-stainless.aspx), the Stainless Elite P226 was not placed on the roster in the first place. It says "CA Compliant: No" to indicate this.

Stainless Elite is only purchasable as a new gun via SSE, or another exemption to the roster only. They are not discontinued.

Many of Sigs P-Series guns are not on the roster as they would need to be modified with a LCI and mag disconnect to be placed there. The LCI is ugly (http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7110/7849385778_58961c914c_z.jpg), so my opinion is that that the single shot exemption is the way to go.

Go for the 226 Stainless Elite. If you thought there was hardly any recoil in the aluminum frame, the all steel Sig will feel like a 22.

And some eye candy.

I'll have to warn you - There is a pretty significant issue with Sig P226's. When we picked up my new one, we went directly into the range to shoot it. I let my wife shoot a magazine, after which she immediately said "Mine", and swore off polymer framed guns for good. I almost never even get to see my 226 any more, much less shoot it.

And now she says that she wants to shoot our new Springfield MC Operator, but I've learned from my previous mistakes. I don't want to lose that one to her as well!

Going to a sig after a XD or a glock is like banging Megan fox after dating Rosanne Barr.

The only ones who don't "get it" are the knuckle draggers.

I think the perfect combo would be one of these in .357 Sig and some nice hot hand loads. ;)
