Took my new gun to the range today and had around 70 rounds went through the tube and the V-comp was blown up. I need to send my gun back to performance center. It seems S&W is making their gun in china (not in USA any more)

Made in China? Not calling BS on this, just asking for source. Glad your OK.

"Disappointed"?

Would probably not have happened if made in China. Alas.

of course it is not made in China. It was my expression that it is junk (not like I used to have S&W PC before). I had a 627 PC 9 yrs ago; with 10,000 rds went through the tube without an issue

Looks like the bullet caught the edge of the rear of the front face...did you notice any prior rounds clipping the edge.

Glad you're OK

It's unrelated but I was just starting to look into a 629 today after seeing one from a member on here. Hopefully it's not a bad omen.

Sorry you're the one that got the bad weapon out of thousands. I'm sure S&W will make it right and maybe throw in some goodies for your trouble. Good luck amigo.

Ask them to replace that one, and a voucher for another pistol.
Glad you're okay though.

Wow did that hurt? Was that cumulative damage or was it the very first shot?
It looks like it would make a helluva bottle opener!

How the hell does that even happen? you would think if the bullet was catching on it it would just shave lead.... Maybe after repeated impacts it would deform that far. Id be extremely pissed if i had shelled out the cash for a performance center gun. despite this thread i still really want one, theyre just too sweet. Please update with S&W customer service experience

Wow! Glad you are ok and send it back to S&W. They will send you the postage mark that will not cost you a thing. They will take care of it. I had an issue with my 686 a year or so ago and I sent it in and it was back two weeks later.

Let us all know if S&W fixes the problem for free and how long they took fixing it.
Good Luck with your revolver.

Wow that sucks. I have a 627 PC without a V-Comp and it shoots like a dream. I've only had to use S&W's customer service once on a used firearm I purchased in the past and they made fixes that I didn't even realize needed fixing when I sent it in.

Turnaround time was even faster than it took them to mail me a letter that they received my gun. I think the gun came back in a week and the letter came back a week and a half.
