^ GI or higher model does not make a difference.
There is only really 2 more popular rod guides styles; barrels with bushing, and bull barrels.

This one fits the barrels with bushing:http://www.midwayusa.com/product/630406/wilson-combat-1-piece-full-length-recoil-spring-guide-rod-with-recoil-spring-plug-1911-commander-stainless-steel
Get a one-piece, just my preference, happy shopping :)

The Wilson part # 25 G is for Government Model 5" barrel pistols and the Wilson part # 25 C is for Commanders with their 4.25" barrels.

Although I only use full-length guide rods on bull barrel 1911's personally, the 25C should work fine on your Commaner.
