Dear Editor:

Gun violence is on the rise in California and our community suffers from it
every day. Our children are subjected to lock-downs when they are at school, and are at risk from drive-by shootings when they aren't. The recent shootings at Virginia Tech show once again that we need to give law enforcement the tools they need to stop the bloodshed.

We don't have to ban all guns to make our communities safer, but we do have to pass sensible gun legislation. The California legislature has the
opportunity to provide law enforcement with a new tool for solving handgun crime and reducing illegal gun trafficking. Assembly Bill 1471 (Feuer), The Crime Gun Identification Act of 2007, would require that new models of semiautomatic handguns sold after January 1, 2010 be equipped with "microstamping" technology.

Microstamping technology would substantially enhance law enforcement's
ability to quickly identify and link shell casings found at a crime scene to
the individual semi-automatic handgun from which it was fired. This
technology will help law enforcement find armed criminals, including gang
members and drive-by shooters, and reduce the gun violence in our streets.

Please ask your state representatives and the Governor to support AB 1471!

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger:

Please support and sign AB 1471!

I'm going to write letters to local newspapers and Arnold that answer the BS in the sample letters above. Please take the time to do the same.

I'm all over it. :D

Dear Editor:

Violence is on the rise in California and our community suffers from it every day. The recent shootings at Virginia Tech show once again that we need to give citizens the tools they need to stop the bloodshed.

Banning guns, and other so-called "sensible" legislation will do nothing to stem the bloodshed. The California legislature has the opportunity to provide law-abiding citizens the tool they need - Right to Carry. However, they waste our time with bills like Assembly Bill 1471 (Feuer), The Crime Gun Identification Act of 2007, would require that new models of semiautomatic handguns sold after January 1, 2010 be equipped with "microstamping" technology.

Microstamping technology has been disproved as an viable technology in studies. Beyond the fact that the technology doesn't work, most guns used in crime are stolen anyway. What good does knowing whose stolen weapon was used do us? None. This "technology" will not help law enforcement find criminals, plain and simple. These people don't abide by the rules any other time, why would they do so to acquire a gun?

Please ask your state representatives and the Governor to support Right to Carry laws today!

Not my best effort, let's see if the Chron picks it up, though.
