This is a newbie question, so thanks for your patience and help.

I'm thinking of buying a used P228. The P228 is on the CA roster. But the one's I've seen advertised come with magazines that hold more than ten cartridges. So am I allowed to buy the gun with the larger magazine, even though the law now restricts magazines to 10 rounds or less? Or do I have to buy the gun either with a small magazine or with none at all and then buy a CA-compliant magazine from another source?

Thanks again

David

You can buy the gun, but you can not take possession of magazines with a capacity larger than ten rounds unless they are disassembled. You can never assemble them in California, but can assemble and use them out of state, but must disassemble them before returning to CA.

You will need to buy a 10 round magazine for the gun before you can complete the safe handling demonstration.

Great gun.
