Sig XO if you want the most basic, then Sig Nitron if you want nite sights, etc. Choose traditional 1911 look or Sig style with or without rail.

good.. i hope you research more about 1911's before you make your purchase.. you are right about the sig 1911's being more readily available... cause every store i have been into has quite a few.. everyone has their opinions.. but as for myself.. I cant buy a sig 1911 because of the external extractor.. thats just a no go for me.. these are some of the things you should compare between different 1911's.

I have a TAC PAC, it's been flawless. It eats reloads, mine and gun show, Blazer aluminium, and everything in between. The finish has been very durable. The extra weight keeps muzzle rise to a min. if you do your part. The grip safety/beaver tail is cut a little higher than some of the high end 1911's, Les Baer etc. So the gun rides a few millimeters higher in your hand. Not a deal breaker but I'd prefer it a bit lower.

OK AH all Sig 1911 are stainless, and in general most all 1911 are made of either steel or stainless so they have a heft to them. But there are a few want to be 1911's that are made out of plastic or aluminum. Did that clear things up for you?

The Tac Pac is on the roster. It's doesn't have night sights or a mag well extension. I run a light on mine, so I don't see the point of night sights. There are dozens of aftermarket magwells out there. I went with an EGW.

I'm looking for a 1911. the only Sig 1911 I would buy is the the Sig 1911 TacOps w/ the traditional slide. It will fit most holsters than the one P series lpoking slide.
So, take a look at those.

Hi POW211,

I wanted to share my thoughts since I just went through this same decision making process as you are.
I decided I wanted a used of Calguns Sig 1911 in Stainless Non-Railed. I have always liked the feel of a Sig and they all shot well for me . I never understood why anyone would need a rail unless they are in special ops or something similar. Me I can do without the extra nose weight and if I wanted a pistol with a bunch of crap attached to it; I wouldn’t choose a 1911 format.
Started reading up on Calguns, saw a few Sig 1911’s on here for $745-800 used but then I realized that the Sig doesn’t have a standard 1911 frame size which means it wont fit in a standard 1911 holster? Then I also realized the slide doesn’t look like the traditional 1911… and started looking at other brands until I saw a used Kimber Custom Target II, it felt solid and since used... the springs were nicely broken in. The pistol was solid no rattles and all steel. I picked it up for $700. Im very happy with the Kimber, very easy to work on and a lot of training on Youtube on how to disassemble and reassemble. The Sig is a nice gun but it isn’t a standard 1911 unless you pay the big bucks and pick up a Sig Elite Classic.

i hear ya on rob, he made a lot of decisions to make cuts here and there but kimber the company doesn't seem to make anything anymore. I've had to get a lot of custom work done on my desert warrior, custom 2 and not liked what I heard from various gunsmiths. will I buy kimber again? nope. will I buy another sig from ext? yeah, I most definitely will.

I went with the Sig TacOps Traditional. Love the thing. Been awesome so far with approx 650 rounds through it, no FTF or FTE issues at all. I did have the right side ambi safety come out on me while shooting. Sent it to Sig and they put a new one in. Since then, no issues at all. While it was there, I had them Nitron the barrel.

I love my Stainless Sig with rail. Not my most expensive 1911, but it's a great pistol and I carry it regularly. It's been super reliable and a solid shooter. I'm adding a magwell and that should just about finish off the way I like it, everything else is stock and works just fine...even the MIM parts. ;)

Me and 4 other people I know personally have never had problems with our Kimbers. As for Sig 1911's... I own a Scorpion and since day 1 I've had about 10 FTF so far. I don't have many rounds through it at all so maybe it needs to be broken it.

I've got a Sig Tacops Traditional and I love it. Never had a single problem with it and the 4 mags included makes for a lot of fun at the range (until you have to reload :D )

I've also got a Kimber Super Carry Custom Shop and the Sig is every bit as nice and as smooth as it for a lot less money. The factory Sig magazines are much better than the factory Kimber magazine. The Sig also had a rail to put one of my Streamlights on.

These says, I think they are getting harder to come by. At the time I got mine last November, there were 4 of them for sale on gunsamerica concurrently. The prices on Sig 1911's have gone up in general as well. More and more are on to them now.

Nitron with rail is what I went with. Got it through YZ Ernie here in the commercial section. Easy to deal with, he has some SIGs right now and his prices are excellent.
I just took it to Ironsights and compared it to a G21SF and SW M&P.45 . I was thinking of an SW in the future, still like my SIG more. SW felt good also and was almost as accurate in my hands. Funny a range trigger feels good vs a brand new trigger on the SW.
As always shoot it and see what feels good and works for you.
