So I'm writing a research paper about 2nd amendment rights in CA. I even asked my prof about this but he kind of just said state power vs federal power and avoided the question. I'm doing research on my end but having some trouble... Can some of you guys who are more well versed clarify this for me? Would the 14th amendment also help the 2nd amendment when it states "No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States"?

Certainly pay special attention to the the Tenth Amendment, and research the so-called "general welfare" clause of the Constitution; and, how the Tenth and the "general welfare" clause (as generally, and erroneously, interpreted) contradict one another. Oh, and look into the crazy Federal abuses of the "interstate commerce" regulating powers (state marijuana statutes are good examples where the Feds try to suggest they have more power than the Constitution should allow under the commerce clause).

Have fun, and prepare to get pissed off!
