Nice stuff. Specs?
Kit from Florida Gun Works (was $109 at the time), DC Industries receiver, Tapco G2 trigger, piston and 74-style brake, MM grip w/adapter, synth furniture from Ultimak, a set of sights from Championship, Duracoat finish, an internal AK cleaning kit and a cheap Chinese mag just for the pic... I slowly collected a few parts, James did the real work.

How much? Never really added it up, but certainly more than just buying a Saiga, I know. But it's what I wanted. James is adding a side mount for the Russkie Kobra red rot I picked up from Kalinka.

Dude that's one nice looking AK is it 7.62x39 or 5.45? Also "roughtly" how much was it? I'm looking to build or buy a similar styled AK (I want black furniture), but I don't want to break the bank :). Tell us how she shoots too :)

That's nicely done. Very nice.
I have a bunch of receivers and parts kits laying around and need to get the ball rolling.

It's x39. I have a couple SKSs and an AR in x39 and a pile of ammo, so going to another caliber was a no-go for me.
"Roughly" about $650-$675, but mostly because of the add-ons. I could have used the supplied wood furniture (-$100 for synth stock), the original sights (-$140 for Trijicons), etc. If you want to go "low-budget," you could get it done bare-bones for about $450-500. You should ask James for a real quote. (Check out the Mad-Ox ad at top and drop him an e-mail...)
I thought about building it myself, but tooling up for one or two rifles made no sense at all. I'm not an AK collector, but I did want at least one. If you have the tools, time and skills, I could see doing it for $300 or less. (Real experts who have done it should chime in here.)
James handled the DROS as well, making it a one-stop trip, and he's a very cool guy who is as informative as he is helpful and professional. (His wife Jennifer is great as well.) I prefer to do business with nice people, and that's often worth spending some extra time and money.
