Put this bedspread hidden holster platform together from some shop scrap. I wanted a quick and efficient method to draw my weapon while laying down in bed. To me, a visible hand gun on a night stand is too exposed and clumsy to get at at best and in a drawer only adds uneeded precious seconds to the retrieval process and both of these methods require a lot of squirming around to make them happen.
The detachable holster in the photos is an Unkle Mike's that I bought back when I purchased the Colt .45 Combat Commander new. I have not yet decided if I will cut the strap off but I can say that I now have an excuse to buy an IWB or shoulder holster so I can use the Colt for CCW use.
The hinge allows compensation for mattress/boxspring alignment and full collapse for luggage transport to a hotel or wherever my head hits a foreign pillow.
