But I worked MUCH HARDER for these nine than any limit I've ever shot. This was no sit on the edge of a field and wait hunt. Hiked over 4 miles up and down hills to get these guys on 2nd opener morning. Most gratifying hunt I've ever been on. As a bonus, when numbers 8 and 9 flushed from a high tree, 8 flew right in front of 9 and I nailed them both with one shot.

Nice. I have a much harder time getting a limit in the second season. Makes me want to go out now.

Simply breast them out and wrap with bacon and a little sliver of jalapeño. Toss them on the grill over medium heat, and make sure to keep an eye on them so they don't burn (this can happen very quickly due to the dripping bacon grease). I usually coat mine in Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce as well. Works well for all ducks I've shot too.

Thanks Bill. I'm finding (at least in my local spots), that I shoot/dove hunt better in second season. Think it has to do with the added practice of quail/duck huning in the weeks prior to the 2nd opener for dove.

isnt that taking away from the dove flavor? i go simple, dip in milk, dredge in flour S&P mix and flash fry in a small amount of butter, put on a salad

I don't always eat the bacon, it's just an easy fast way to cook them which locks in moisture. I do sometimes fry them up with an egg wash/flour dredge mix for dove nuggets. It's just a bit more work.
