New to the forums and thought I'd introduce myself. Just started shooting recently and purchased my first gun after combing through numerous forums and threads. Decided on a M&P 15-22 MOE and have another 4 days before she's released from jail. :D Contrary to the many gun shop reviews, I've been having nothing but nice and informative employees help me out. :cheers2:

I live in the Bay Area (San Mateo county) but also travel up to Sac occasionally to visit family. I'm pretty excited and looking forward to interacting with the rest of you.

Howdy, glad you have been treated well by the gun shop employees, hopefully what they were telling you was correct. It is in your best interest to verify any "legal" information provided to you by gun shop employees. Time spent reading on Calguns is the best way to know what the laws are, and what they really mean.

Pro tip: Don't try to make sense of California's gun laws, it will only make your head hurt.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes. All the advice and tips on this forum has proven correct and useful thus far.

@onegtalon: yeah, hiding my wallet doesn't help when accessories can be purchased on amazon. i can see my credit card bills piling up.

@socal bob: i did find CA gun laws to be very ambiguous and confusing at times. i just go to my trusty buddy who is a LEO for advice.
