Does anyone know of any semi auto magazine fed factory built pistols in this caliber?

No,I would expect them to have the same issues semi-auto rifles have with .17HMR.Probably worse due to shorter barrel and timing.

AFAIK,no one has made a reliable semi of any kind in .17HMR.

Agreed.

A handgun would probably need a lighter bolt in order to cycle correctly with the shorter barrel, meaning the shell would be ejecting even sooner than on a rifle- and the whole problem with any recoil operated semi-auto 17hmr is that the shell will start to eject and become unshrouded while there is still too much case pressure due to the necked down case design- then boom, the case ruptures.

I miss my Remington 597 in 17hmr, it was a great rifle, but after 2 case ruptures I was afraid to shoot it again. I sent it back and had it rebarreled as a 22mag, but its just not the same.

It would work in something like CZ 52, short recoil design with rollers.

High Standard used to make a drop-in 17HMR barrel for the Automag II.
