I've got a Stag 3H upper with the railed gasblock. I bought the MI flip up front sight for a gas block, but it doesn't fit flush. It's like either the sight mount is too narrow, or the rail on the gasblock is too wide. It mounts up, but it sits slightly crooked because the bottom of the sight won't sit flush with the top of the gasblock rail. Am I a victim of the 1913 picatiny VS weaver difference? Or is my MI sight just too small and should I exchange it? Thanks! BTW, I got some new parts for my rifle, and I'll post up in the pics thread!

Here's my upper

Looks like you have a sight assembly designed for mounting on railed fore end and a gas block rail that isn't at the same level as a the receiver/fore end rail.

Nope, its the correct part, at least according to the label on the box it came in. Also, it seems to be the correct height. The box specifically says that it's for the railed gasblock.

Sounds close. Sometimes the railed gas block is out of spec. Sometimes the sight does.

Grab a caliper and 1913 spec sheet, do some measurement to figure out.

Good luck.:)

I think I'm going to get some fine files and file down the gasblock a tiny bit just enought to make it fit flush. I'll be VERY careful to keep it even!

I had the exact same problem with the exact same parts. I ended up replacing the front sight block with a PRI flip sight and am extremely happy with it.

I used my Lansky kife sharpener kit with different stones to slowly take off enough aluminum to make it sit nice and level. Fits perfectly now, and is very solid!
