The other side knows how important this is.

Dear FailureDrill,

District of Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty announced this week that the District will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to review the decision in Parker v. District of Columbia — an assault on D.C. gun laws and one that could threaten every city's gun laws.

The U.S. Supreme Court could decide in about three months whether they will hear the case and each month brings a tidal wave of work for the Brady Center to defend our nation's gun laws. We must be geared-up to fight this battle. Simply put: we need your support today!

Please click here to make a tax-deductible commitment of $25 or more. Your gift today will help us prepare for the incredibly large amount of work that needs to be conducted to hold off this assault on our nation's gun laws.

You'll recall, in a 2-1 decision this past spring, a federal Appeals Court overturned Washington D.C.'s long-standing restrictions on handguns based on a twisted view of the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, while ignoring more than 60 years of precedent — a decision that endangers America's gun laws coast-to-coast.

This battle — to its very core — is the most important battle we have ever waged. We need your help today to save America's gun laws by building a strong Brady Gun Law Defense Fund.

Your tax-deductible gift of $25 or more today is critical to our success!
We must prepare for a long hard battle. So much of what we have worked for in the past and everything we're currently working on could be destroyed by the heinous decision of right-wing activist judges who chose to ignore more than 60 years of precedent in order to help the gun lobby accomplish in the courts what it has been unable to accomplish in Congress.

Please respond today. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sarah Brady, Chair
Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence

Here is the rest of the posting:

Your generous tax-deductible gift will be a critical source of income that will help us:

Convene well-recognized experts in constitutional law and history to develop the most powerful arguments against the Parker ruling;

Assemble a comprehensive library of books, treatises, articles, court decisions, and legal briefs refuting the "individual rights" view of the Second Amendment and make this library available to lawyers nationwide and on the Internet; and

Continue our major public education campaign including full-page ads in major newspapers and a new Brady Gun Law Defense Fund website. We're also organizing lawyers and law professors to write newspaper op-eds and letters to the editor to create a constant drumbeat of criticism of this decision.

I like this idea...in reverse of course.

How could we organize to get some of our board "experts" writing in to local papers?

So what is up with donations to them being tax deductable? Donations to the NRA are NOT tax deductable. Isn't Brady a political lobby org? Doesn't that mean it is NOT a tax deduction?

Did they really address it to FailureDrill?

If so, very nice. :D

The Brady's never sent me my targets. They need to quit all this hoo-hawing about banning guns and start sending me my targets I ordered.

They sure don't have a lot of respect for the Supreme Court or the Judicial Branch as a whole if they think buying ads in newspapers will affect the decision in this case.

You mean "that WAS your undercover ID" until you posted it here. Don't you think these people monitor our sites like you do theirs?

I still don't get how they are a tax deductible organization? They seriously need an audit because they are not legit.

I'm not seeing where they're sending the ones we ordered. It kind of pisses me off. I spent good internet time where I could have been otherwise upbraiding newbies or ogling...gir..um -- black rifles and stuff. Jerks.

To repeat the theme, how is it that a political lobbying group has tax exempt status?

Hoffmang - is there some sort of FOIA request that we can toss at them? Maybe an IRS complaint?

I seem to remember a bunch of churches getting audited after the preachers told the congregation who to vote for in the general election.

Don't you get it guys? Our right to common sense gun laws could be at stake! You know, that right in the Constitution that says...oh wait a minute.

As for the tax-deductible donations, I brought that issue up a while ago, but I'm still not really sure what the explanation is.

A 501c3 can advocate in the judiciary but cant advocate for votes. Sadly, no foul.

I love the judge there on their site crossing out the first part of the Second as if it restricts arms only to military outfits. I wonder what it's like to get up every morning with the intention of lying to as many people as possible.......

I would wonder if they just don't get it (reason for the protection of the PEOPLE's RKBA as written in the first part of the Second, not limitation to the entities that the Founders wrote the 2A as protection from) if I hadn't seen them lie about everything else.....

I want to send them a nastygram, but it's really just a waste of energy.

Edit: My wife now says I'm not allowed on their site anymore. Apparently my mood changes when I view their propaganda......?

Apparently there are two arms of BradyCo. a 501c3 and a 501c4. I'm just postulating here, but given their limited amount of contributions, I bet that plenty of c3 cash finds its way to the c4 side.

Nothing quite as terrifying as a tax audit. Didn't the IRS just announce bigger and better audits with a larger and new and improved staff?

Which poses the question, is it better to whap them now or hamstring them when SCOTUS announces that they've accepted Parker?

Nice to be a part of the "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy".

If they really cared about making a difference in terms of saving lives they would take their money and put towards mandatory firearms training and social intervention for troubled youth in the inner-city...

But we know there agenda is nothing about saving lives...its about disarming law abiding citizens.

The Brady group is nothing more than a tool/wing of the socialist party...and as long as we are armed their utopia is out of reach.

I truly hate them and consider them an enemy of the state, among others.

Dear Brady Center...

In an effort to improve my 'gun control' I was wondering if you had any posters suitable as targets?

The posters must not contain the likeness of any person accept know terrorist such as Bin Laden. Areas of high contrast and graphic features that would make suitable aiming points would be perfect.

Most of my shooting is done at 100 yards so keep that in mind, though I have been known to discharge my firearms at targets ranging from 5 yards to well over 500.

I am all for gun control...and I make sure to breath out just before I pull the trigger. Gun Control = Accurate and Precise Downrange Impacts.

Keep up the good work...

Regards, Carson
