In case anyone in interested in a free course from the Red Cross- here is info on an upcoming class


Hermosa Beach Disaster Service Workers in partnership with the American Red Cross is offering to train basic level Disaster Services course is to prepare community volunteers to manage shelter operations.
The shelter will be set up in the community to meet the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster.
When: Saturday, November 3, 2012, 9:00 am -3:30 pm
(Includes lunch break)
Where: EOC (Community Center Emergency Operations Center)
710 Pier Ave. Hermosa Beach, Ca 90254
(Back building over the HS Museum)
The training is scheduled as one day (8-hour day) training
Residents from any city may attend. At the completion of the course, they will qualify to volunteer at any Red Cross Shelter. (Must be 18 years of age.)

Unfortunately that conflicts with the Zombie Shoot we are holding this Saturday at Burro Canyon. Otherwise I'd be interested in going.
