This is bad and I am not for it at all but if you think about it there really isn't any place in long beach to buy ammo except wal-mart. This will amount to an ammo ban since wal-mart will just stop selling it instead of going threw all the trouble.

Turners is in Signal Hill and is not bound by LBPD. They have there own police force.

We've been fighting the sacramento issue all year. If you guys need the background, Weve got it. this goes back to the Firearms Owners Protection act of 1986 and so on...DrJones is the pointman up here.

dont let this getaway. This is a statewide drill to build support for things like AB 362.

This is the real deal! By the way , I was alerted to this by a posting from Mike Spence, President of the California Republican Assembly on the Flashreport (http://www.flashreport.org/blog0a.php?postID=2007071713441186&post_offsetP=0&authID=2005091915442370)

That is scary. Sad thing in Nate - if it goes through - you will no longer probably to buy online and have it delivered to your house.:(

Don't know about reloading components and how that figures in..........

I gotta go look for some addresses and start sending letters.

start reloading

He already does. That is not the point though - not everyone reloads that owns a gun. Now if this passes can they not only physically walk into a store to buy ammo anywhere in LBC - but can't order it online either.

I would venture to guess that once a city makes the list of online retailers - they probably won't ship reloading supplies either.......:(

I live and work in Long Beach :( I know a few people that know some people that are important in Long Beach, maybe I can get there ear and see who I need to talk to. I can't take the point on this but I can help if someone else has the time to do it.

start reloading

That won't work either because up in Norcal and some parts of the bay area, they won't even ship reloading components like bullets.

I thought there was something in the gun control legislation which asserts that it is the intent for the STATE to occupy the entire field regarding this issue. If so, the city has no power to create gun laws (including ammo laws) as this power is reserved to State level.

Tell that to SF and LA.:(

This is the best time we have to stop this, if it gets a good recommendation out of this committee it might get very hard to stop.

Yep.

This is IDENTICAL to the proposed ordinance we are fighting in Sac and will be heard here (in Sac) on Thursday, August 9.

As Ant said, the purpose of these ordinances is to "act as effective catalysts for the adoption of state legislation" - quote from LCAV themselves at a Sacramento City Council Hearing in December 2006.

You guys getting the picture yet????

Call, fax, email and write letters.

Call, fax, email and write letters.

Oh, not to mention - you CAN meet with city councilfolk on your own - you don't have to be particularly special or a lobbyist in order to get a meeting - but DO be well-dressed, polite, well-spoken and know what you are talking about.

It's called pre-emption. I'm not very familiar with it, but what you described is my basic understanding of it.

I do know that pre-emption laws have been used to strike down some gun control laws/ordinances. :)

One thing I like about this republik. :D

Has pre-emption ever been used against us, though??
