So, to follow up to anyone who's not sure what this means, the "IMPORTANT NOTICE" that was linked under ".50 BMG Restrictions and Registration Requirements," that read, in part, "Law enforcement officials, firearm dealers and the public should be aware that semiautomatic centerfire rifles that are modified to be temporarily incapable of accepting detachable magazines, but can be restored to accommodate detachable magazines, are assault weapons if they have any of the features listed in §12276.1(a)(1). The Department intends to exercise its power pursuant to Penal Code section 12276.5(i) to adopt regulations as 'necessary or proper to carry out the purposes and intent' of California law to ban assault weapons in the state" is no longer there.

To reiterate, that memo is NO LONGER linked to from the DOJ. The DOJ is no longer even trying to claim that "semiautomatic centerfire rifles that are modified to be temporarily incapable of accepting detachable magazines, but can be restored to accommodate detachable magazines" are "assault weapons".

So will DOJ now stop these malicious prosecutions or post a correction memo? I won't hold my breath. They are still scum until they do that and then it would only be because they were forced to.:chris:

I never saw the .50BMG "IMPORTANT NOTICE", but I did see the one about AR15/AK47 "series" rifles discussed in another thread. It is no longer available as a link off the DOJ website thanks to a petition filed by another member. Very impressive work.

It concerned detachable magazines and completely contradicted existing legislation.

This is the thread...you can see a copy of the memo and the petition filed that most likely is responsible for it being removed.

Taking it off the website doesn't mean they are going to stop with the FUD. But still, score one for the good guys :)

OK, I've had about the worst week of my life (no, for real, the worst in ALL my life) that I can remember, and this was good. Real good. Makes me feel like staying in CA might be worth it just to see some tides turn.

Thanks Gene. :)

Outstanding....

Consider for a moment what the state of affairs would look like if there was no internet...no ability to convene in real time with the power of so many minds to analyze and eviscerate this nonsense.

If we did not have an internet these goons would breaking down doors left and right.

If we did not have an internet these goons would breaking down doors left and right.

Excellent point we should always remember. Recall the Party slogans from 1984:

WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

The Party used those slogans for a reason.
