Well, I finally had a chance to get some good pics of the rifle I finished building early this year. Thought I would share the details as I have had a bunch of questions. I posted this on AR15.com also...

The rifle started as a Springfield Loaded. Accuracy was standard holding around 2-2 1/2 MOA with SA surplus and a solid 1.75 MOA with Fed. Match 175g.

I wanted an heavy semi-auto medium range gun.. I love the irons on the M1-A so I had to get another one to keep the iron and walnut gods happy.. This one was getting optics...

Here is what I did to the poor thing.. Hope I don't leave anything out..

Barrel- Kreiger Med-Heavy SS NM 1;10
Stock- JAE-100 swat black with factory SA hand gaurd
Scope- US Optics ST-10 Mil-Gap.. Fixed 10x - 44mm, ill ret, 1/2 MOA EREK knob
Rings- US Optics extra low
Mount- Sadlak Ti
Other crap-
Sadlak TIN coated, grooved gas piston
Sadlak NM spring guide
USGI welded NM gas cylinder, shimmed and lock nut surface ground
SEI muzzle break
USGI bolt and extractor (Not in pic)
TRW USGI trigger NM set @ 4.5 lbs

Thats about all I can remember right now..

Accuracy is around 1.5 MOA with SA Surplus now and on a good day ~1 MOA with match and hand loads.. The rifle is heavy! Recoil is nothing and the stock fits me very well..

I am Happy!

I have to make note of the wonderful service and products that Sadlak puts out.. These guys far above everybody in customer service and quality of product.

Now for the pics..

I can't tell you how much it reduced recoil.. There was never really all that much to start off with.. But I can say it is 100x better than the factory Cal-legal Springfield thingy.. Lack of muzzle rise was the biggest gain.

Heavy, but nice.

I held one of the JAE stocks. I thought it looked good but the weight was unbelievable.

Timberlake is doing something right. He just kicked Cameron Diaz out to make room for Jessica Beal.

wow, that's a very nice setup. How much did it cost for this final fine piece of sniper rifle?

Smith Enterprises (http://www.smithenterprise.com/products07.html) has them. If they don't they'll back-order them for you.

I don't know how much they reduce the recoil, but I love mine. Looks cool, too. :D

Nice rifle, NwG. Nice rifle.....

You have no idea how jealous I am.

When I first decided I wanted a nice long range semi-auto rifle I had looked into an M1A w/ JAE-100 stock.

After factoring in BARE minimum costs of all the various *ahem* reasonably priced components, I abandoned this project until I move back to Canada where I can buy a base M14 rifle for less than $400 ... as it SHOULD be.

Beautiful rifle. Work on your handloads and I have no doubt you will be hitting sub MOA easily with a rifle like that.

I'm jealous!

We just blew 2800bucks on my buddy's birthday, and he said it himself, "I'd be much happier if ya'all used the money and bought me one of them M-1-A SOCOM".

DAMN WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!

So you'll know what I'll be lobbying for my birthday :33:

Thanks for the kind words guys!!

While the M1-A is not very easy to build from the ground up, it is very easy to add all the NM and accuracy parts.. Just be sure you know how to use the irons first.. They work so well and should be a requirement before you go to optics!

YUMMY!

:)

I think the JAE-100 stock is great for a long range rig. It's like the AICS/Remington 700 of the M1A stocks.

Bravo!

I'm more of a purist when it comes to M14s, but the JAE does make for one sexy rifle. Very nice, very nice indeed!

If I may make a suggestion and if you haven't done so already; I recommend you have a USGI op-rod, that rifle deserves it.

Who built it?

The USGI op-rod and guide are out being refinished along with the bolt, extractor and trigger group. I wouldn't have it any other way :chris:

The rifle was built by Springfield and all the mods were done myself.. None of them were really all that hard.

And as stated, I went out and got myself another M1-A to be kept in it's proper walnut and irons.. I would hate to see the battle rifle gods smite me for not having such a rifle!
