Hey guys. I've been looking in buying a 10/22 for a little while. Big 5 has them on sale for 219 (saving 20 dollars or something). Something I should jump on it or does anybody have any reccommendations to get them cheaper elsewhere? Thanks

The best sale of the year will always occur the day after thanksgiving at Big 5 (before noon, get there really really early)

It may/maynot go on sale, but I guarantee thats the time that the employees are waiting for to buy stuff for themselves.

I commute to the OC everyday for work, so I think a drive to rancho shouldn't be too bad. I did check out their grand opening fliers though and nothing was too exciting except that Sig P220 that i cant afford :(

Sports Authority is basically giving them away at $179. That is like $15 over my cost.

I'm down in OC, and it seems like SA down here doesn't sell firearms. Even on their website, can't find anything but cases and BB guns.

I was gonna say the same thing..... Sport Authority (Formerly Sportsmart) has only sold air guns and paintball guns for as long as I can remember.

some SA sell rifles others don't. I bought my 10/22 there for 179. But I believe they stopped selling firearms as a company in the last couple month or so.

I just bought one for $180 in Redding last month. They sell a TON of them though so I guess they make up for it in volume.

I wouldn't drive real far or beat yourself up to save $10, but if you can combine another big5-ish c&r on sale with the 10/22 or double up on their thanksgiving day sale, you'd be doing alright since dros fees are a significant percentage of a 10/22 purchase total.

I just inherited an 80 year old winchester 22 (model 06 slide action) and i like it better than my 10/22. I don't like the fact that the ruger doesn't have a bolt hold open feature on the last round.

It is kind of funny that people keep saying, "No Sport's Authorities sell guns here." Yet, you have people who have seen them selling guns. You might want to call or swing by yours as this does not seem to be a blanket policy.

I've seen them at the store in Stockton, but you won't find them in SoCal.

The one in Valley Fair in San Jose doesn't sell guns. I didn't see any gun gear at all, but I didn't look that hard.

As far as a 10/22 goes, I'd buy from a friendly local shop if I could, even if it was a little more expensive, since the price difference isn't that much on a cheap gun like this.

Day of Thanksgiving at The Sports Authority.. I spent over $1,000 last year..

I'm down in OC, and it seems like SA down here doesn't sell firearms. Even on their website, can't find anything but cases and BB guns.

I received an internal e-mail and it has a list of all the west coast TSA's that sell firearms. I believe the only one from So Cal was the Bakersfield store. Haven't checked with them yet to confirm or deny.

Sports Authority is basically giving them away at $179. That is like $15 over my cost.

I wonder what our costs is... hmm.. I will check today and see who has them in stock.. I apologize though to you Wes as I like TPF way more then TSA :D

Correct, it is a hit a miss thing as it is the decision of the DM for that area. Our district has the most in California. Although our DM doesn't want firearms anymore.. so we shall see.

Sports Authority puts Bakersfield in their southern area. They do have guns here but I haven't been in the store yet.

Would you rather have me call it Central California? :D

It's about 300+ miles from Bakersfield to the Southern border of California and about 500+ miles to the Northern border.. :) Anyhow, that is the farthest southern store that appears to sell firearms in the TSA system.

Maybe off topic, but Big 5 has the Mossberg 500 8-shot or 500 5-shot 2 barrel combos for sale for $249 till July 21. Looks like its going to take me a while to get into the ar-15 wagon :D

Want a 10/22 but the nearest Turners is over 180 miles away (Reseda).
The next time someone goes in, suggest that they open a store in the Central Valley.

Hint that there's a big $170 in it for them.;)

They've cut back their hunting and gun section a lot; that corner is mostly fishing stuff.

Probably not supposed to say the exact cost of items... soooo the cost of the 10/22's for TSA is a number between 165 and 167 :D

Current price they are selling for throughout all the stores is 189.99, up $10 from 179.99 a few weeks back. But holy crap all of the ammo got wayyyyyyyyy marked up. :(

If any of you are in the 916 or remotely close you need to go to Wild Sports in Orangevale. They have their 10/22's on sale all the time for $169.99. Seems like every other week.
