I know it's a bad picture, but I'll take better ones when I finish it. This was my birthday present from the wife. She allowed me to obtain a Remington 700 5R Mil-spec. My sister got me the 50 rounds of .308 Win, and my dad got me a scope and mount which arrives tomorrow. Hi-Rez photos will follow once I mount the scope.

Nice when family members get it. Congrats on the great family and your new Remmington.

My hubs got me a shotgun for our anniversary. Now there is a good "trusting" man.

As you can see, I received a Millet Optics 4-16x50 TRS-1 with the illuminated reticule. I don't know much about the brand, but I do know my dad, and he wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't positively reviewed and he decided it was a good value.

Range report will occur this weekend when I get a chance to take it out. I wouldn't expect too much, since it's my first long gun and this will be my first time shooting .308, but I'm sure I'll have a blast. Only slight concern I have is the throw on the bolt is really close to the scope, so I'll have to be careful when chambering a round.

Wish me luck sighting it in this weekend.

And yes, a bipod is on my list. I already have a cleaning kit for it, I got a Remington universal kit that I use for my Kimber as well. I think the 4-16X should be sufficient for checking shots without a spotting scope, but I'm sure one will sneak into my closet at some time.

Looking good!

A cheek raiser might not hurt on that bad boy!

Is it lame that I think this is actually really sweet? I think I'm turning into a softie.

Someone did their research on rifles before buying. I have one in my safe and you will not regret owning that fine piece. Don't mind the haters on Millett, I listened to them sold mine and have regretted it since.

The Millet is actually a decent scope for what it is, especially at the price…

I sold mine to another Calguns member, only because I went on a little scope upgrade bender and ended up getting a Vortex 4-16 FFP and a SWFA 5-20 … but to be honest I wish I kept it in case I needed it again for something else down the road.

My guess is the same person who wears the pants in my family.

That would be the CFO

Officer

I turn the finances over to her. I indulge A LOT right up until she tells me to reign it in until next pay check. Works for us. ;)

OP, nice rifle and even better family you have there. Relish in both.
