I have a quick question. I'm looking to buy some 10/30 pmags in 556/223. I know buying rebuild kits and making them 10/30 yourself is cheaper but im a little nervous about ordering rebuild kits online. Don't want to attract the wrong attention.
How do you guys to it?

I just bought a couple of rebuild kits from Exile Machine and used this little 10 round blocker to make them 10/30.

http://metaldogtactical.com/magazineblock.html

Very easy to do and nothing will happen if you order rebuild kits online.

Just don't assemble them into high cap mags. That would be illegal.

Exopy or rivets?

Exopy or rivets?

Whatever you feel most comfortable with. There is no definition in the law of "permanency" so you have to decide that.

Some use epoxy, some use rivets.

Some use neither since they feel a magazine with a block is already permanently 10-rounds - the argument being that in order to make it high-capacity again, you'd have to disassemble (at which point it is no longer a magazine, but a pile of parts), procure additional high-capacity parts, and re-assemble into a high-capacity magazine. The latter portion being the felonious act anyway.

Personally, I've been using nothing except blocks, and I no longer possess the standard magazine spring plates. Epoxy or rivets would prevent traditional means of cleaning my magazines, and I don't feel my magazines are quite so disposable.

Exopy or rivets?

What ever you feel meets the permanence clause in the law.

As they did not define it, it is up to you to do what you feel is legal and has the least risk of being determined breaking the law.

+1 for Exile!

Get the Magpul 10 round blockers at the same time. Slide right in and done. I did pop rivet mine. Drill thru the small logo on the baseplate and it lines right up with a factory hole in the blocker. Easy to remove...uh...for cleaning!

Alrite just ordered some pmags from exile. probably going to epoxy 2 or 3 and use those in my work truck. the rest ill just put the blocks in. Thanks everyone for the help. good thing about the su16ca is that i wont need a stupid bullet button since its a featureless rifle. ill just throw my bushnell 3x9 on it and ill be happy with my ranch truck gun

I just ordered 10 kits from Exile about 1 month ago! I had been wanting to buy some for quite awhile, but after winning one of their caption contests it made me want to support them with a little business!

So whats your pmag/ar mag count look like? is 10 enough mags? Do you guys leave some repair kits sitting around for a rainy day? I was thinking i need about 5 10/30 & 10/20 mags and a couple kits sitting in the safe.

I have 8 30 round AK mags at the moment, but I've been selling off some of mine to replace them with the metal lined poly ones.

I need to get back up around 20.

I have a rivet located on the front if the mag and stops the follower at exactly 10 rounds. Works flawless, and the baseplate is still removable for cleaning (spring is stuck inside though, cleaning around it still works)

Check out AK Supply

The ones I bought really were for repair so I don't know the best way to block them at ten rounds.

PSA CA legal mag link (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=629821) from the vendors forum...

Exile Machine link (http://www.exilemachine.net/shop/) I get the basic mags and a pack of Magpul blocks...comes out less that buying already fabbed 10 rounders. You will have then in mere days after your order!

If you want a pmag, and you don't want to worry about any confusion with the law, I sy you make a trip to www.midwestpx.com, and buy their cut down pmag to a 10 round CA Legal magazine http://midwestpx.com/product_info.php?cPath=15_69&products_id=451. Yes their a little "pricey" compared to a rebuild kit, but look at it as an investment on not having to pay a lawyer $300 plus an hour to argue the legitimacy and legal possession of your magazines before the court.

I however feel comfortable enough running 20 round bodied mags, with the standard floor plates in them, and epoxy at the bottom to hold the plate in place.
