We sold a 1981 359 with 425 HP 3406B in it earlier this year. 63" sleeper, @ 285" wheelbase..... it was NICE! We sold it within a couple of days..... EVERYBODY wanted it.

Hehehe.... I've thought about this as well (open road sounds NICE), but the wife doesn't want to go so it looks like I'm staying (at least until we move back to WY :D ).

PICS I need pics.

I dont remember the wheelbase dimensions that I was looking for but it would be just the average as to not be the kind that could haul a load of pipe way over the front of the trailer.

as short as a 3 axle tractor would normally be.

That sounded like one nice Cat. Cant stand Detroit's and cummins are a runner up.

OH how much did you sell it for ?

SAS - I just looked through the pics on this computer and I don't have any of that tractor. We sold it right around the first of the year and I don't think I had this computer yet. I'll see if I can dig some up for you.

The WB on that rig was WAY long for what you're talking about anyway..... by about 40". You're probably looking for something around 230-250".

I think it ended up going for around $20k as we rebuilt it from the ground up a few years back.... paint, big sleeper, CAT, frame stretch; the whole shebang.
