I have an AR with a MOE handguard.

I'm looking to mount a flashlight on it for the Zombie Shoot.

What is the best method, how about the least expensive while still being good and which one suck and should be avoided?

Lots, and lots of different ways to do this. If you already have something in way of a light, using it saves you money. Magpul makes both a light mount and a simple add on rail. Then you could mount a handheld light (with a ring) or a clip on weapon light.

I bought this light https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_Ultimate_Weapon_Light_PAWL_01_p/pawl-01.htm

It's bright as hell and has the same parts and pieces that Streamlight uses. Its just a knockoff. I love it and for the price it cant be beat.

Least expensive while still being good : Inforce (http://www.weaponoutfitters.com/tactical-lights/tactical-rifle-lights/inforce-wml-white-multifunction.html) or the Streamlight TLR-1 (http://www.amazon.com/Streamlight-69217-Powered-Flashlight-Locating/dp/B0077RHYN0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1349909441&sr=8-3&keywords=streamlight+tlr+1)

Least expensive while still being good : Inforce or the Streamlight TLR-1

That's the catch...you never know with off brands. I have yet to try the Inforce. But have used well known brands like Insight, Streamlight, Surefire, etc. and I know they will serve you well and last a really long time. Buy once theory of saving money. I've got Surefires that I've been using for a good 15 years. I have no doubt Streamlight and Insight would last just as long. They've proven themselves.

I've had a knockoff actually catch on fire...think it was G&P. Scared the heck out of me. Thankfully I was right there to put it out.

A surefire TLR3 works just fine on the AR platform. It's normally a pistol light, but you can find these used quite often. If you have a pistol with a light, you can just use that.

I like IWCs Light Mounts - http://www.impactweaponscomponents.com/category/mount-n-slot/light-mount/

I have one paired with a G2L on a MOE handguard.

Another option which has been mentioned is the Magpul Illumination Kit. I bought one of those along with a Viking Tactics Flashlight Mount and G2L before I went with the IWC mount.

If you already have some sort of 1" flashlight, just get a mount and one of the small Magpul rails.

I also see a lot of people use a Streamlight TLR-1 mounted on ARs.

I used to run a Surefire 6P with a 1" ring and mounted to the barrel in the 6 o'clock position right in front of the bayonet lug. Then ran the switch up to the handguard with a velcro band.

But that was when I had a standard M4 style hand guard. I haven't decided what to do with my fancy 4 rail thing yet and I don't use the Surefire anymore, my Fenix is under 1" but I think probably I will get a ring for it and mount in the 9 o'clock position so I can hit the switch with my left thumb.

Just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Just got the Primary Arms Ultimate Weapon Light yesterday, it's pretty bright (not sure if it's 380 lumens like they claim but I haven't tried swapping batteries yet) but it mounts really easy and the pressure switch seems to be pretty decent.:11:

I put a small GG&G rail on my rifles with plastic handguards. Its only about 2.5 inches long. Lets me mount an Surefire X300 pistol light. No extra cords or switches and easy to swap from rifle to rifle to pistol etc...

I have this setup. Cheap and it works. Problem solved, problem staying solved Rangers Lead the Way!

Oops had to edit my post I put up the wrong light. Scroll down on this link and you will find a package deal for the mount and the light for under $60. It's a Streamlight Polytac light and the Viking Tactics light mount.

Streamlight or Surefire. They work and don't break. Streamlight for fun. Surefire for "not fun".

Personally I have an x300 on a LaRue QD mount on my AR.

You might want to consider featureless as well. Using a bullet button in the dark is hard.

I have Surefires for my 2 carbines and pistol but recently got an Elzetta for my shotgun-- really pleased with it-- light dissipation seems better than my Surefires; I like the operation of the cap button better and it seems like its more ruggedly built: www.elzetta.com
