Almost absolutely sure about this but really wanted to check with calgunners on this subject before I even think about purchasing an M900, It's not legal to have a Surefire M900 on an AR15 Pistol because of the vertical grip correct? That 1% unsure part of me brought me here please don't think I'm stupid! :(

Thank you!

If the oal is over 26in then you can use a vfg.

Thank you MrPlink! I've got it figured out now, I'll be over the 26in mark.

Keep in mind, this has to be a permanent 26in oal, ie you cannot count a muzzle device for length unless it is permanent.

Citations?!? Im under the impression that having a VFG on a pistol is illegal no matter what unless you register the pistol as an AOW

I don't believe that is the case. The permanent thing is only when calculating barrel length.

Search for XO-26

The cliff notes version is once you hit 26" and above federally it is too long to be considered a pistol, so cannot be an AOW. There is a Franklin Armory ATF letter to that effect. CA still calls it a pistol, but CA doesn't have a specific VFG ban on fixed magazine pistols so is no biggie.

Not at home now, so I cannot pull up the 411 from the xo26, but could swear it indicated that it had to be over 26in with the muzzle device removed still. Could be wrong though...
Also might just be Franklin playing the cya game

It is 26" OAL, not based on the muzzle device being fixed. If it is on there, it counts.

I could certainly believe that CYA explanation, since someone swapping a muzzle device could inadvertently manufacture an unpapered AOW.

I was flat out wrong, MrPlink was right. Franklin discusses this in this other thread.

I was actually hoping I had it wrong! I would love to shave off a little length on my Title1 other.
