View Full Version : Saiga Bullet Guide and 922r?

I recently bought a Saiga IZ-240 5.45x39.

I want to buy some magazines for the rifle, but the OEM mags are plastic, expensive, and hard to find. Using AK74 mags would be nice as metal ones are cheap and easy to find. I know I must stick to 10 rounds in California.

Some say a bullet guide is not needed to make the AK74 mags work in the Saiga, but I want to install a bullet guide. I do not want to do any other modifications, just a bullet guide.

I have researched the issue as far as 922r and the bullet guide go. Some say it is OK to install the bullet guide without violating 922r. Others say installing a bullet guide requires changing other parts to keep foreign part count to 10 or less to comply with 922r.

Hope this thread does not seem redundant to other threads, but I am still confused. Thanks.
