Hey guys I'm a newb on calguns. I have a remington 700 sps tactical in 308. I currently have a 3x9 scope on it but i want to get a nicer optic. my budget is a depressing $300 flat. Im a college student and i dont have too much time to look around the forums to find the answer i need. If anyone has any ideas or is selling their scope please let me know. I intend to use it as my long range rifle. I just want to see my dads face when I consistently hit a target at 700 yards. Thank You

Bushnell 3200 fixed 10x or the Super Sniper fixed 16x. Make sure you get either model with Mil knobs not MOA.

That's a steal. I got my 5-15x for $450 + tax when I picked mine up.. Didn't really shop around then.. Just wanted her built :D

Too bad the current Bushnell rebate promo doesn't include that particular mil/mil model. Otherwise it would have been a great price after the rebate. Their $75 rebate appears to be for their moa/mil model. I think that the mil/mil model is a special product for Midway only but I could be wrong.

SWFA check out their sample list for their bargins.
I like the Burris Fullfield II and Redfield in that price range.

^^ This

I would lean towards the SWFA fixed 10x or fixed 16x in mil/mil

You really need to up your budget if you want better.

Buy a reloading press or fork out for match ammo if you don’t already.

That’s going to make more difference than an optic ever will.

I would have suggested the SS with mil-quad reticle. The dots cover too much!

I own and highly recommend the Bushnell 3200 Elite for a great bang for your buck 10x scope.

I have to say SS too. I own a couple (10x and 16x) and they have been fantastic. if you are shooting out to 700+ yards you want a scope with more elevation. I believe the SS gives you an outstanding 120MOA which is a LOT. While the Bushnell is a nice scope its small 1 inch tube only gives you 80MOA at most.

I’ve seen that link before, and bought a Vortex Diamondback because of it, but they are all hunting scopes, not what the OP should be looking for.

The fixed SWFA SS scopes are still a better choice, by far.

Would you guys say the bushnell elite tac 10x mildot is a better option than the Nikon buckmaster 4.5-14 mildot for this weapon shooting factory ammo 100-1000yds

Depends on what’s more important to you… optics are full of tradeoffs.

“Do I need a variable optic”?... Is the first questions you should ask yourself when comparing those two scopes.

I was just in the same boat OP. I decided on the Buckmaster because I really wanted variable magnification. This was ultimately the deciding factor that pushed me towards the Nikon over the Bushnell.

I got lots of helpful info from this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=626377

I am currently facing this question myself. I am looking at the SS 16x mil/mil, Falcon Menace 5.5-25, and the Millet TRS 6-25 (or 4-16).

Still reading up on all of these to try and make the best purchase for my needs.

The buck master is hands-down a better precision rifle optic than the bushnell 10x due to the fact that the buck master has adjustable parallax.
The 10x bushnell has fixed parallax so it's only accurate at the range that the parallax is set for.
At any other distance, your cheek weld consistency is going to play a big factor in your precision capability.

A little over your budget but might be worth taking a look. The Vortex-Midway special, pretty much like the PST but sfp.

It's currently unavailable but probably back in stock again soon.
