Hello everyone. I an ALMOST done with my first AR. I decided to go the piston route for my own reasons. I currently have an moe handguard on it just to get it shooting. My questions for calguns is what rail systems do you recommend for piston uppers? I'm going to be running the adams arms piston kit and i know they have rail systems for ~300. Anything cheaper?

What say calguns?

Adams Arms FAQ page has a list you can start with.
Magpul stuff will work now for a cheap way to go. Add on rails where you want.
MI makes some good FF 2 piece rail kits for under $200.
Keep looking around, you'll find something that'll fit your budget.
Try to stay away from the cheap poorly made ChiCom stuff. Buy American.

I have one of the Samson extended rails made for the Adams Arms piston kits and I have to say that it is nicely made.

Luckily I bought used and did not pay full price.

By the way, the threaded holes for the barrel nut clamp have Helicoil thread inserts so you can take them apart and put them back together a bunch of times without pulling threads out of the aluminum.

Just finished my rifle. I too used the Adams piston with the Samson rail. I went mid length with the .750 gas block.

Good looking rifle you have there sir. I'll keep my eyes open for Samson rails.

Thank you. I bought straight from Samson. $193 delivered. It's the Samson Evolution 9 EX. A bit tricky to install with the gas block. Here's an Adams link which lists hand rail make and models:

Good luck on your build.

Mine is the older model Star-C-Ex-P (or something like that):

I believe Daniel Defense makes the OMEGA rail for pistons, however I dont think it's an extended rail (limited to the standard 7" length).
